In the interest of stability and preventing gas blowby, it would be a good idea to drill out the base and plug the hole. JSR, How about a Corbin style swaging die, use those weights as the starting point for a die system that can flare, bulge, crimp, change caliber etc. Maybe use these weights with...

JSR Yes, I see what you mean now! You are mounting to an existing dovetail on the "launcher". I was thinking the rail was screwed to a flat surface. I maybe SOL and have to make a wild a$$ guess. Thanks! Dewey, Yep we often buy them blank and machine our own specific hole patterns to mate up with w...

Yeah my brother has been wanting to see Hawai for a long time now(he's seen too many movies with hot, half naked dancing chicks) and now I have a reason to go that doesn't involve fishing or diving...Would be cool! Darn, Mike and I are stuck in this industrial park. No chicks here, absolutely none ...

I can send dwg or sat3 files to you directly via e-mail. These files will not lose any detail which may occur if double conversion. I had one of my files take 6 hours to convert to sketchup. Just pm me and we can discuss. Dewey, I may take you up on this. Yes, original files can't be beat for accur...

JSR, Found some time to set up the pour. We had to heat the molds to around + 375° F before the tail started to fill nicely. Note the 9 volt battery and .177" (4.5mm) pellet in there for scale. Also a 2" UHMW blank for a pneumatic round we are planning. Oh, one of the first pellets that did not fil...

As Gippeto says, use a carbon steel tap if salvaging a part will be inportant. A HSS (High Speed Steel) tap will be near inpossible to cut out if broken. Cold forming taps are great but kinda beyond the scope of a DIY layperson. If you have 1/8-27 straight pipe threads, then find that size tap. 1/8-...

30 odd years ago; The military dumped tons of these CO2 cartridges when the ones in life rafts and life vests expired. I used to get buckets of these. I tried shooting them like a mortar then. The barrel can't be too tight as the cartridege would slowly glide down against air pressure. When I got a ...

Bang for the dollar, it'll be hard to beat an arc stick welder. As Tech and others mention, a Lincoln, Miller, Sears etc buzz box can be found at garage sales or on Ebay. Don't forget flea markets and swap meets. Stick to brand name stuff. Use 3/32" rod if you lack power, 1/8" for best selection of ...
