Re: [WIP] Triggered Ball Valve Musket
Once again, excuse the long silence between updates. I had to move into a new home, I also had to start a new workshop which took a bit of time, but I simply can't get the idea of finishing the airgun out of my mind. So anyway here is another update: I got a new ball valve, covered it in plumbers gr...

Re: Lil' Shatterhand buildlog
This piece is a big inspiration to me. Such an awesome one of a kind air musket.

Re: [WIP] Triggered Ball Valve Musket
Small Update: The ball valve I was using was becoming fairly stubborn to turn, I think sawdust or other dirt might have caused this, I tried a bunch of different types of lubes, dish soap, silicon oil (actually made it harder to turn), valve grease, I tried cleaning the ball, I tried washing it, I e...

Re: [WIP] Triggered Ball Valve Musket
I have used epoxy endcaps in numerous 850 psi projects. Here is an example using a copper tube as a chamber , no issues with leaks. Did you ever take that thing to 800 psi? If you did, might have to reconsider not going above 500 myself. After another try it turns out that loctite marine epoxy actu...

Re: [WIP] Triggered Ball Valve Musket
[youtube]https://youtu.be/bw7KLV98B5g[/youtube] Awesome! Epoxy works most of the time but always seems to spring a leak somewhere. Have you considered eschewing the 15 minute stuff for something different ? Ah, thanks, guess the youtube address wasn't pasted correctly, it's a little different on th...

Re: [WIP] Triggered Ball Valve Musket
Due to its malleable nature, copper is not usually a good candidate for 15 minute type epoxy joints unless it's a really tight fit. You might want to consider a pouring of marine type epoxy. This chamber is really beating me down, I've tried plumbing solder, epoxy, some stuff called 'Just for Coppe...

Re: Pistol Marble gun
You could also just patch the marble (wrap cloth or another thin material around it before ramming it down the barrel) or stuff wadding down the barrel after placing the marble in to keep it in place. Patching is good because it allows less air to leak between the marble and the walls of the barrel....

I fucking love Ian, his personality is great. Honestly I don't know if I'd watch Forgotten Weapons if he wasn't the host.

Re: Short question topic
I'm thinking about brazing some copper piping for a chamber, but I'm a tad worried about the heat effecting the copper's strength, anyone have experience? Does copper anneal easily? Should I just go with steel to be safe? It's a 2 cu in chamber, PSI will be up to 500.

Re: [WIP] Triggered Ball Valve Musket
My joints were just 1/2" copper pipes slathered in epoxy and inserted into copper fittings. My first chamber (the one in the first image) worked fine and held up to 400 psi without leaking). Now, with the ones I've been making, after about 300 psi the epoxy begins to crack and leak.

Re: [WIP] Triggered Ball Valve Musket
Not much to show from this week unfortunately. I spent most of my nights this past week building and then rebuilding the air chamber after it had leak after leak after leak before I eventually got it through to myself that epoxy resin alone makes a poor air seal, at least mine does (JB Weld). So now...

Re: Anyone ever scatter human ashes via spud gun?
I'd personally go with some sort of small timed air-burst device, something like those mortar fireworks where you light a fuse and send it down the barrel.

Re: [WIP] Triggered Ball Valve Musket
Here's the progress from last week Barrel fully inletted, this was a pain and I didn't get a tight fit because I got lazy and accidentally rounded off the edge with sandpaper, no fixing that, live and learn. http://i.imgur.com/dsTmopT.jpg Sawblade makes good mainspring material http://i.imgur.com/LO...

Re: Short question topic
Update: Tried it out today, I think my Paintball ASA is missing an o-ring or something because when I go to thread the tank onto the ASA/hose assembly it just dumps air at an alarming rate before I can get the thing threaded on. EDIT: nevermind, it's the regulator that's missing the o-ring, pretty s...

Okay, here's what I got http://i.imgur.com/SH7tYYH.jpg Co2 tire inflator threaded onto the sawed off neck of a threaded co2 cartridge > 1/8" brass coupling > to the paintball tank hose. Got the paintball regulator modded to a pressure of about 200 PSI which I can bump up or down by adding more belle...
