It could be that the particular hose you have is not designed for use with hose barbs. That happens sometimes.

Likewise I'm sure you could achieve some manner of metal lathe precision with an attachment for a wood lathe. It's a thought.

Inonickname, I think the point I was trying to make was that in the engineering world, our need for precision and absolute exactitude is drowning out the fun that comes from making certain parts by hand. I regret rambling about wood turning. It comes down to what I enjoy about spudding the mo...

Tech, I'm glad I'm not the only one. The results are fantastic, and completely worth the extra effort.

That must be nice having the ability to harvest your own stock. I live in a community ruled by a council of neo-Nazi suppremists who believe that fun is hebrew.

You can achieve a lot of different end results with a "wood lathe". I turn all sorts of materials on my wood lathe. The difference between wood and metal lathes is the same general difference between wood and metal power tools in general; speed control. Now granted, there are a lot of mini lathes wi...

I forgot to mention to mask off the lathe *facepalm*

If I ever use any liquid on a turning, I always cover my lathe with plastic sheeting and towels.

Try for a type of spray paint that is designed for bonding with plastics. A lot of people swear by Krylon Fusion. Personally I've never failed with Rustoleum Professional Enamel. If your piston is lathe turned, you can paint it on the lathe. Just use very very light dustings from the spray can and b...

IT looks like your piston is a little loose in it's housing. Try wrapping a couple layers of electrical tape around it, or make a new piston altogether that utilizes o-rings and a check valve.

I would make one, but I would probably use oak or cherry for the furniture, then stain it with some concoction. I would also use that ignition circuit I have floating around my house somewhere so that I could have a push button trigger pull rather than a grill igniter.

And with a coaxial firing chamber, you could increase the porting area by mimicking a QDV housing and having three ports. I wonder about working the charging handle into a more ergonomic solution. I'm thinking pump action shot gun, where the foregrip charged the firing chamber, and the trigger would...

Warhead, I'm going to assume that tape is temporary. I hope you were joking  This thing is looking better every time I look at it! I love the chamfer on the receiver. I had a similar problem with putting the "bang button" in a grip for my large cannon. I ended up using a forstener bit to counte...

It can be scary sometimes to try to free hand things when the slightest slip could make all of your work worthless. Half of the fun is the risk though. Can't learn without making a few mistakes. Are you thinking in terms of a sanding block? I would get fed up with that and probably resort to hammer-...
