Re: New Guy

I plan to make a FEW changes... 80kv instead of 30, 3 gap strip instead of 2, and 12v A23 battery's instead of 9v. Anybody ever build one of these? Any and all info would really help If you're changing the voltage and batteries simply because you have easy access to the appropriate components, knoc...

Re: My current hobby: Cowboy Action Shooting

It's a hell of a lot of fun. One thing that's pretty cool about it is that you really can't spend THAT much money on the sport. In normal competition shooting you can spend $10k on a single gun and if you don't have the $$$ you probably aren't going to be competitive. In CAS... You can get yourself ...

I figured it out. All I had to do was run it as administrator. Sorry if you reply to run it as and administrator before this post is posted as I am new and a moderator will have to approve my message. Yeah, sorry about that. I wrote them a long time ago using software that was old even then. The lo...

Re: Two-stage hybrid

You almost certainly do not need the second ignition system. The piston moving to the left will adiabatically compress the mixture in chamber B and chamber B will ignite much as a diesel engine will. Voila. That said... DANGER, WILL ROBINSON. It is worth noting that you're playing around with a syst...

Re: HELP ME ESTIMATE THE DISTANCE OF THESE SHOTS

As a native.... RULES OF THE OPEN DESERT 1 - Bring lots of water (duh). 2 - Tell somebody where you're going, the route you'll take to get there, the latest you will return, and do not deviate from any of that. That's 90% of it right there. Don't get me wrong, it's best to not travel alone, but don'...

Re: HELP ME ESTIMATE THE DISTANCE OF THESE SHOTS

Using Trig sounds like a fun way to do it. Good ideas! Also, you're right about not being able to simply pace it out. It's not safe to walk that far out since it's an open range. Dude.... You live in Riverside, right? BLM land is not that far away. Only a few million acres where you won't be able t...

Re: Over 3800 after shocks.

I'm assuming this was the Ridgecrest ones? Seeing those pictures makes me miss California until I realize how much of a crap day that must have been. Glad you're safe man. Yes. For fun.... Compare Vera's location (see link below) with the fault lines for both the 6.4 and the 7.1 quakes. https://www...

Re: Over 3800 after shocks.

Thanks. Yeah, life has been a bit of a blur lately. On the plus side, it looks like I get to provide design input into a new facility (assuming the money exists like they're saying it will).

Oh, and I see they're saying we're up over 80,000 aftershocks now.

Re: Over 3800 after shocks.

So there was a bit more to my day than I may have previously implied. Suffice to say that I was close enough to the 7.1 to see the fault open up. For that (and a bit of story that went with it), I was awarded a trophy with the inscription, "First Place. 7.1 Run For Your Life Sprint". https://sconten...

Over 3800 after shocks.

Yeah, I am so over this earthquake and ready for something that resembles normal.

edit: Now over 4150. Sheesh.

Re: Oxygen tank

Maybe I'm just ignorant, a chicken, or both, but I'd never use something at 3000psi unless it was designed for it, labeled for it and according to manufacturer instructions exactly. Not chicken. Maybe a tiny bit ignorant if by "ignorant" you simply mean, "not a professional in the field of compress...

Re: Oxygen tank

I've used that style of ball valve at 55 bar, but that was at my own risk, I wouldn't recommend it. How about 3000 psi rated aluminum paintball tank Can i take it to 300 bar? The safety disk on 3000 psi compressed air paintball tanks typically blows at 5000 psi or around 340 bar, but that doesn't m...

I only know they are from 1980 and they was using in medical ambulance. 1 bottle i think is in very good condition 1980 is no big deal. In the compressed gas world, that's practically new! The question is how they've been stored and such. Again, rust is a concern. If they've been stored in a cool, ...

Re: Oxygen tank

i think this is they rating and inside i dont see any rust its clear but another one have little rust. So can I fill one to about 200 bar or even this 250? they are really heavy Looks like 250 is the rating but I'd be a bit leary if the rust is anything other than cosmetic. Do you know the history ...
