Online electronics suppliers but ebay can be helpful sometimes.

Yes they tend to have minimum orders which are fairly high for hobby buyers after a couple of components.

240V will work.

One of those should work.

For reference, the GDT I use are 330V and the SIDACs were 330V, 240V is fine.

Hmm.

Looks nifty and 20 mins isn't bad considering its got a payload.

Okeydoke. If that resistor is the only one at that end of the circuit board then it's a bleed resistor between the two terminals of the capacitor and is likely to be arcing from feedback from the coil. You don't need it, it is there to discharge the capacitor when you turn off the bug zapper so ther...

A picture might help. Shouldn't really be enough volts on the bug zapper board to jump more than 1-2mm and the board is already designed for that. Are you using an open air spark gap to trigger the coil? While that works it's also fairly unreliable in my experience and the points like to corrode ove...

Come on, don't promote BS from the companies that make stunguns. 100,000V 500,000V 900,000V You REALLY think a stun gun with a spark gap of an inch or less has a voltage difference like that? Call it about 30,000V per centimetre that a spark can jump in air as a very rough guide. Remember if the gap...

Yes, you should be able to use the circuit as it is. I can't say how fast it will charge or cycle but it should work. Looks like you've got something with a residual current device built in, that's not designed to do anything in the case of a surge, it's to switch off in case of an earth fault. Even...

I've actually made a jacobs ladder with my totally-not-a-stun-gun with literally two wires off the output but it's terribly unreliable when in front of a camera. Could be a contestant for smallest jacobs ladder ever since the ones I can find on a casual search are, yes small ladders but with somethi...

No that's the same circuit. The large red capacitor is charged up to a few hundred volts and there's wires from that directly to the swatter grid. What you have there is a circuit which will create the few hundred volts you need. It can replace the camera flash circuit. You still need: 1) A spark ga...

I don't know why you continued using a dented barrel, major mistake. Copper pipes are so thin and soft it doesn't take much to deform and tear it. I'll spend a while making sure a length is defect/dent/curve free before buying it, then it'll get cut to size, polished inside and out. If a plastic ful...

Evan... A hybrid could shoot 6 miles, given it is huge and firing an aerodynamic dart. I'm pretty sure a fire arm can shoot that far, so a properly made hybrid and projectile could too... Actually, only artillery can shoot that far.. The maximum effective range for firearms is 2300 meters, which is...

From the Toyota FJ Cruiser Forum. I blew up my FJ... literally... So my time almost came to an end this morning... im very lucky to be alive. $75 looks fairly low to have a new fan for that temp. How feasible would it be to improvise a propellor/impellor on a shaft which exits the oven to be chain/belt driven by an external motor. That way the motor could be isolated from the heat even over 72h and the air stirring assembly won't break th...

Thing is with circuits made from valves like this, they tend to be somewhat rambling and bulky. It's all very well for industrial use where all you want is easily replaceable and accessible parts but not so great when you want something tidy. Boils down to time/money in the end if you want to make a...

Is the sleeve held on by any means?

I'm thinking a slot in the knife body with a grub screw in the sleeve to limit movement would work in that respect.
