I don't know exactly, but a few nights back my brother and I recorded a confirmed range of 431.4 metres (471.8 yrds/1415 ft) with his latest pneumatic cannon, which has got to be fairly high.

He's hoping he can boost his record to half a mile (800 metres or so) or more in the near future. Not that it'll be easy to confirm.

Just out of curiosity, how do you find out how far it shoots? Like, is it an estimate / calculation, or do you have some way of tracking how far it went?

You can use the measure distance on Google Earth. Or you can just pace it out.

My brother and I did it with a laser range measurer. Much more accurate.

1,600ft with a heavly loaded tennis ball (it weighed 1lb with it's filling) down hill. Measuered with Google Earth.

Between 1550ft and 1650ft with a golf ball using backspin. The hop up was acting a little funny and I coudent get a good breach seal, so it should have been further... Again, measured with google earth and shot flat and level (on the lake at a friends house). Impressive thing about this shot was the gun was only at about 15 degrees with the spin doing all the work.

510m or about .35 miles with a golfball (Titleist), lol I wonder if the brand matters?

Thats measured w/ Google Earth which is actually rather precise (within 10m usually)
