Length of chamber

Post questions and info about combustion (flammable vapor) powered launchers here. This includes discussion about fuels, ratios, ignition systems and anything else relevant to launchers powered by igniting things like hairspray or propane.

Hi.

I'm making a new combustion cannon.
The chamber will be 2" 40cm long.(around 1.3 foot I think)
Will the length of the chamber effect the power?
Btw: How longer the chamber and a smaller diameter of the chamber , how less power?
Or i'm totally wrong?

I ask this because I want be sure if it would work.

Yes, it will still work.

A chamber that is larger in diameter and shorter has a little more power because the flame front has a larger area to advance, allowing it to complete combustion and expel gasses faster. The difference is small though.
