Piece of @#$% Canteloupe Cannon!

Post questions and info about pneumatic (compressed gas) powered launchers here. This includes discussion about valves, ratios, compressors, and anything else relevant to launchers powered by compressed gas.

I really enjoyed the Combustion Launcher that I made last summer for shooting canteloupes. So this year, I thought I'd build another. But the thought of project boxes, wiring, fans, stunguns, & propane meters was unappealing though.... So I thought I'd try a pnuematic.

I started it this morning, and it's almost finished.
(I've still got to add some gauges and and the fill lines, modify the valves, and solvent weld the barrel on).

I need some advice though... I could add a 1" modded-valve to each 3" valve, rig the lines to a Tee, and dump it through a blowgun.

OR, I could simply tap in a 3/8"NPT x 3/8" Hose Barb (90*) into each 3" valve, run a 3/8" Hose (from each 3" valve)to a 1" Tee, and dump the air out of the 1" Tee with a 1" modded-valve.

The second option sounds easier, (and will probably cost less) but does anoyne think it'll dump the air just as fast?

Why dont you run some big hose and dump it through maybe a 1" ball valve. I think i would go with the second one too. Not just the cost, but its a pain to mod 4 valves, two of which are 3". You should put that thing on a stand too. Nice work. What size barrel is it going to have?

Id run the hoses into a 1 1/2" sprinkler valve piloted by a 3/4" sprinkler, if that would even work. I dont know if there will be enough pressure to properly seat and unseat all these valves.

I'd say run the 3/8" hose from each to a single 1" valve. It would be simpler and probably perform just as well.

those valves are sort of far apart, id put a 3/4" sprinkler on each valve, then run air line two each and to a blow gun/ball valve for trigger

Im with L13. IF the gun where to ever break or be broken somehow, the sprinklers would be independent and not rip eachother apart.

Plus, 2 is better than 1.

Just a thought, are u from Texas cause the TV allways says, "Everythinsg bigger in texas."

^ Obviously. Every thing that DR makes looks like he did it out of plain boredome. Thats why everything just keeps getting bigger.

I like the cannon DR. It looks like it is going to be devastating. What do you plan to shoot at?

well I've been gone for a while and for my first post back I would like to ask who ever is making this gun (DR, sorry about forgetting that for a second), from the pictues the "tee" that is being used looks mighty thin, or is that just me?

This is off topic but, I was just wondering why you added the picture with the pumkin puking in the toilet to the "long-view" picture? The only reason I ask is because it's not in the other pictures that give a same view of the wall so, I'd assume its super-imposed.

It's still funny though.
