I saw a bunch of hackeysack posts all over the web. and its a good idea. BUT i had a personal experience with a hackysack and a combustion spud gun once. me nd my friend put the fuel in and closed it, put the hackysack in and when we went to shoot it. it exploded flames shot like 40 feet out of the cannon and the back cap blew out. the hackysack was on fire about40 feet away. his cannon was really good. this never happened before. he was lucky though cuz he was holding it. it was duck taped too. its up to you. you can try it. but i was just saying be careful.

geez, the cap should not have flown off, regardless. I atribbute the malfunction to poor building And carelessness. The ammo iS rarely the cause. Btw, I typed this on an iPhone!

My understand is that ammo is not capable of causing the type of failure you experienced; the failure you had is a result of a weak launcher.

Now, if your barrel blew off... that might be a case of ammo-caused failure, in which the projectile jammed after moving a bit and thusly took the barrel with it.
This is rare, btw.

No well mad elauncher would have this occur, unless the materials were dysfunctional.
