UHMW test rounds
I think he is trying to keep them fairly simple for cost reasons.
Who says you cant modify them when you get them?

Indeed, but your UHMW ammo is no match for my 316 SS! We shall wage war.jagerbond wrote:It is the beauty of CNC lathe. \
Haha, I kid I kid. I did those at work, they are the first operation for hydraulic end caps.
Anyways, what exactly is the point of the floating piston for ammo? why does it have to be low friction? The ammo is only going to move once, and that is when it leaves the barrel. Seems unnecessary.
Also, I don't thing flaring the edge is such a good idea. What happens when the projectile hits the ground and that delicate edge gets scuffed up? It won't seal well anymore. Orings seal perfectly each time and are easily replaceable.
Hahaha, I'm glad your kidding, its a real pain setting up to machine our Uranium stocks.

uranium! Ahaha! Yeah man, I saw these rounds on your web site and I am really impressed. As soon as I get a chrony I am going to just have to get some of these for fps testing. Also, these rounds can serve as a universal standard for the entire community to use and compare accuracy, velocity and distance of our cannons. It would make an excellent standard round that eliminates the variability in performance due to different ammo use. I won't be firing these off into the sunset though.jagerbond wrote:Hahaha, I'm glad your kidding, its a real pain setting up to machine our Uranium stocks.

We used a Daewoo Puma 240. The bar feeder in the background is for smaller parts since it uses a collet.
Moonbogg, For some reason, Mike has a pile of aluminum sched 40 of various sizes at my shop....Moonbogg wrote: EDIT: Could you immagine these with a rifled aluminum barrel minus the o-rings?

It would be sweet to see some higher end cannons with high power. They haven't ever been sold before and it would be awesome to have the hobby reach these levels.jagerbond wrote:I am hoping for spudaggedonUSGF wrote:Moonbogg, For some reason, Mike has a pile of aluminum sched 40 of various sizes at my shop....Moonbogg wrote: EDIT: Could you immagine these with a rifled aluminum barrel minus the o-rings?

I'd love to have about 50 of these that will fit a 3/4" barrel. I'm trying to use polystyrine and its bein difficult. lol.

Last time I saw LDPE plastic injection feedstock, it was destined to become Legos.USGF wrote:Boom, I spy a 20lb bag of LDPE plastic injection feedstock in the shop.
