Hey all,

I've come up with a design for a high pressure, low volume sniper rifle for a airsoft project, and in the nature of airsoft I'm trying to model it after a real rifle... Ive chosen the general Barrett design

but I am having a hell of a time finding hexagonal working materials!!! ive found a few places I can get bar stock, but finding a tube that doesnt have a fold in the bottom for the joining edge... I would just get some low guage sheet steel and bend it myself and tig the seam on the bottom, but i'm comfortable accurately bending metal sheet. Whe its done, the actual cannon part should slide in and out of the body, so the tolerance needs to be relatively tight.

as a side note, what are the construction differences between 6061, 2024 and 7075? The aluminum will not be the presurized chamber, mainly Ill be using it as spacers and a kind of chassie for the internal components.

Thanks!

You need a special machine if you want to bend such large sheets of metal ...

Try at the sheytac m200, it should be much more easier and still i think looks cooler.

yeah, as much as i love the sheytac and as pretty as it is, im trying to stay with a bullpup just because having the regulator/res in line with the barrel, i need tomaximize the space... my back up idea is the LAR .50... little bit easier, just like the barrett just with a tube instead of a hex:
