It does improve things. Not as much as rifling, but it does mean each projectile has a predictable spin, rather than picking up a random one and just hooking off in any old direction.jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:My understanding is that backspin creates lift via the Magnus effect, flattening the trajectory at the expense of velocity, but does nothing to stabilise the projectile in the same way rifling does.
Bingo...ammo found
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

well wouldn't it be almost as good as rifling? I figured since wouldn't it stabilizes the ball in both axis? The Backspin would stop it from developing side spin and it would also cancel out gravity for a limited amount of time if tuned correctly.Ragnarok wrote:It does improve things. Put a hop-up-like device in the barrel at a certain angle.

Thats what I was thinking, however wouldnt it just end up being backspin in the long run??

No, it will spin whatever way you out the hop up. In my airsoft gun, if I shoot it upside down, it dives. If I shoot sideways, it goes to the side.
