how to, strong chamber...

hmm not much to say about it look at the pictures.
and WHEN you have done that and probably not understanded it, aks :)

i just want to make a high mixture hybrid that are safe at around 20x mixes and this is a cheaper option than machine a chamber out...

It would all depend on what you filler was on whether you would be able to make 20x then you would have to have your fittings rated to take the extra pressure and either do a similar thing to the barrel or get a heavy gauge barrel since it will experience, however briefly, the same pressure as the chamber... I would be careful...

Ever tried using an old scuba tank or a 5 gallon propane tank for a hybrid chamber... I would think something like that would be very strong as they regularly hold more pressure then anyone would normally generate in a hybrid...food for thought any way...

look at it... it is going to be 2" not 5 gallon.
and for the barrel i just slide two steel pipes in eachother and fill the small gap "if any" then put a copper pipe in there again for a smooth bore :)

and those propane tanks are rated to about 370psi...

Like I had said you need to be careful with what you fill it with. For example... expanding polyurethane foam.... will not hold up, but an epoxy may do some good. But simply sliding one pipe inside of another will not increase the PSI rating of the whole chamber.

Also you weak points will be the fittings or the barrel unless you double up on all of them....

I think your best bet is to buy pipe that is already rated for the pressure you think your hybrid will be dealing with

then the fittings failing no big deal as they will be pointing forward and backwards and if it is a problem i just make some my self.
and a copper barrel is not that dangarous rather just expensive if it fails as it would not make shrapnel.

You do know that SCH 80 steel pipe and fittings of any size under 6" would be completely fine for 20x, right?

Your idea would be a b*tch to get working, contain possible defects, and have no advantage over using pipe that is rated for the working pressure. If you intend on using mixes so high that no commercial fittings are rated for the pressure (i.e. about 50x and up), you'd be better off machining your own parts anyway.

we cant get other than steel pipe in norway (atleast where i live) when i ask for a rating they think a bit and com up with a answer from the air... whatever if i can ged some 2" hydraulic pipe it would be optimal for a 20x hybrid.

but if i am going to make a 20x it should be hard to find fitting burst disks...

Have you been at an industrial supply, or just a hardware store? Because employees of a hardware store don't have a clue about these things, and they certainly won't stock SCH 80.

I agree that hydraulic pipe should be fine. All you have to worry about then is fittings leaking - I've had that problem quite a bit when using hydraulic fittings with compressed gases.

As for burst disks, what size of union are you planning on using? Aluminum foil is the easiest (and in a 1" union, 32 layers would likely do the trick, maybe 48, but 64 would be pushing it), but you end up consuming quite a bit of it. Even with high consumption caused by high pressure pneumatics and hybrids, you'd be amazed at just how cost effective it is compared to some of the alternatives.

A better idea would be to wrap the inner tube in as much wire/carbon fibre matting as you can, then pour in epoxy ;)

This idea reminds me of stuff I've heard about, from way back when... Farmers and hunters could make themselves an inexpensive firearm by making a lead casting around a steel pipe. From what I heard it worked, but it was real heavy. If you could pour the aluminum that would be good as well.

hmm the burst disk can be some sheet metal as i can make a burst disk holder my self and then this gun will not be fired very much so it can be an option. just clamp in a 1mm alu plate or somethig.

and i will probably be using lead for filling material as it is easy to just "solder" it in using a torch.

jared thats no problem.

and it makes me think of making a firearm but thats out of my safty freak range :D
