seems like every building material is a pipe of some kind which is traditional. but i am pretty good with drawing on paper(usually old cereal boxes) then cutting the pattern out of thick flat metal. i've gotten pretty good with an angle grinder. i actually prefer this over my puny rotary tool.i am thinking silver solder holds fittings together up to very high psi and gaskets bolted onto flat engines hold alot also. i would like to build a flat sided metal pneumatic one side would have hollow square stock bolted on and silver soldered (oxy acetelene torch or mapp gas soldered)the ends of these bolts will pass through a rubber gasket so other side will be removable maybe with several bullet head nuts tightened against the gasket. if it's shaped like a rifle, the stock could be the air reservoir. i would like to build a vortex shaped like a mauser broomhandle with a co2 12 gram and bicycle inflator in the handle and for the trigger. also i'd like to try this technique to build one shaped like a mac- 10 with flat sides. just wondering if anyone has tried using flat sides?

A rectangular pipe would hold a lot less pressure then a round one. why not just buy regular pipe it would probably be a lot cheaper.

Just a tip, i've seen several of your topics, and read none.

Try some paragraphs and capital letters, makes it far easier to read. Otherwise lazy people like me don't bother.

I agree with Crowley, I read over what you said, and I still have no idea what in the sam-hill your talking about.

Sounds like you're wanting to make a box or rectangle shaped chamber out of plate steel. You can get it to work, sure. There will be zero advantages in doing it that way. Not stronger, not cheaper and will probably be butt ugly.

If you are happy with that state of affairs, then knock yourself out. However, please post it here when you're finished...the only other square chamber I know of has been this thing....

if worried about the pressures... why not take a round pipe and stick in in a square chamber... just an idea...

A vortex doesn't actually contain much pressure as it's basically an unsealed tube to the atmosphere picking up bb's on the way.

I can't see a problem with a welded bbmg body.

It will look different because it's not made of the usual tubular bits which is only a matter of personal opinion on whether thats visually better or not.

A vortex block would fit more easily in a flat sided chamber and the bb's won't act any differently.
