ok, I was wondering what you can use to make a soda can barrel, my friend ordered a tennis ball barrel from launchpotatoes.com (grey electrical sched 40 i think) and soda cans are slightly too big for it.
Also, post your experiences if you have a soda can barrel. thanks

you mean sizes?
the diameter of a standard american soda can is ~65mm/2.56 inches
so the best fit would be 3 inch sch80

I launch full soda/beer cans. You can reuse empty ones by simply filling them up with water or sand. Unopened cans have a tendency to blow up in the barrel with pressures beyond 130 psi.
I use 2-3/4 (2.75) inch tail pipe which has an ID of 2.625.
If you are launching them from a stationary, cannon brace the hell out of it - it will kick like a mule.
Same goes for launching with a portable launcher. Tuck it in and hold onto it.
Be safe...

and DYI that told me there were no such thing as a 2-3/4" pipe and fittings..
the full cans blowing out is pretty ironic since they have pressure in them to make a better differencal like the triggered burst disk cannons

do they blow out because of pressure acting on their base or because rapid acceleration increases pressure inside a can (you know the thing that happends when you shake a soda can) ?
I suppose it's becasue of the latter

Technically the 2-3/4 "tail pipe" is tubing, since it is measured from the outside diameter.
You can also get the heavy walled 2-3/4 inch tubing from a fencing supply company, but you will notice a heavy welded seam down the inside.

I believe it is both. I have had the tops blow off cans. Cans that completely opened up sideways. And others that look like someone cut them in half.
Some just have minor splits in the side and you can see them spin wildly and land a couple hundred feet away. The ones that open up land 30-50 feet away.
This cannon (pictured with short 5 foot barrel - 8 footer on it now) can blow up a can at 110 psi easy.
