After a thought in another post i pondered if an actual singular round could be used as a self rifling "slug". Hence this thread.

My first question is "How the hell did my hybrid barrel self rifle, i.e. rifle itself" and my second question consists of "How the hell do we replicate these effects in normal spudguns".

My ammo consists of self casted "softer ammo" and stainless steel slugs that are .7mm smaller than the barrel, and grape shot of 6mm bb's.

All shots have been performed at 9x mixes at approx 500fps to +mach one (earplug), i doubt they "rifled" anything though!

Any ideas?

edit: I forgot to mention that the grooves are approx 1.5 turn over a meter, the deepest groove is ~.25mm deep.

any pictures on this? of barrel, slug and all the things you can think of?

strange if lardas hybrid with all the weird ammo haven't got something simular

No pictures yet, i will see if my cheap cam can get it, if not i will borrow a rebel xt I can't see how any gases could grip a projectile either, i have however used carbide like larda as ammo, maybe the 12mm carbide milling cutter did it...

did the carbide have the "threads" on it?

if it had it is a big chance that they did it.

not threads as such rather "flutes" that are use to clear swarf when cutting, kinda like a spiral, less twists than a drill though.

it is most possible that they did it since the front wil start to cut in and the rest of the body twist's with it.

Case solved then, there is more than one groove though, maybe it works.
I have only ever fired one three flute tip through it, it was blunt but then again the groove aint too pretty either.

can you try to fire a long soft tight fitting (not penis ) projectile on something soft (cardboard) from some range to look if it goes straight?

Yes i will do a test when there is no wind around, the turns are probably insufficient but i will try anyway.
