more worthwhile buying a scuba tank and having it refilled

I know but I just wanted to post it I thought it was interesting. Especially since it creates 4700 psi.

There are a number of devices which will accomplish the task, none are cheap.

Nothing at these pressures is cheap.

Pressure amplifiers such as those made by Haskel, or my personnel favorite, the Jetsam Baby Booster would be examples of those "other ways".

If you have a local scuba shop that refills tanks, it is definitely the way to go. $10 to have it filled, or thousands to do it yourself.

Is it possible to make a stirup pump that could pump up to these pressures without taking into account how long it would take? I mean If you have 5 different stirrups pumps with increasly smaller piston surface areas u could use ehm from big to small inorder to pump at a faster rate rather than using only a small area.

That would ba a five stage pump.

most people here couldn't even build a gun operating at 3000 psi... it would be much more expensive than building a 500 psi gun.... there are problems with finding parts rated to fridge compressor pressures, let alone 3000 psi


there is a huge gap between 'regular' shop compressors (which run up to 140 psi max) and high pressure compressors and scuba tanks etc... basically there is nothing in between.... most parts are either built for the former or the later... and there are no compressors that can pump to 600 psi or so apart from fridge compressors...

I suppose that the situation is a litle bit better in the UK or USA because paintball is very popular there so there is a lot of stuff rated to CO2 pressures.... but still... uhmm you know it sucks

I think fittings for pressure washers are rated to 2000-4500 psi..

Tape, you seemed surprised by this... but how did you think they got air to those pressures for things like scuba tanks?

I also agree that it's not worth the money, but i did see four or five stage HPA compressor off of some military equipment on ebay once for a couple of hundred bucks. It had no power source and who knows how to hook it up.
There are plenty of online government surplus stores and maybe another one could be found. The best idea is probably fridge pumps or rent a co2 cylinder and fill your own co2 tanks. Cylinder rental is like 50 bucks a year plus a fee for every time you fill it.

Larda was acctually talking about getting one of those if i remember right

For that money, you could build your own.
I may do that someday.
