Does anyone know of a single acting cylinder (spring loaded, one inlet) that retracts when it is pressurized and extends when it is depressurized?

We've all seen those that extend when pressurized. I want the opposite for a certain project.

I suppose I could modify a normal one to work this way.

I've been looking for the same. At the moment I've settled for a double acting cylinder with an air spring on the side where I'd like the spring to be. It's probably possible to modify a normal cylinder to do the same with a spring too as you said.

As you can see, they supply both double acting and single acting cylinders - the latter of which are supplied with either return to negative or positive.

But yes, they certainly exist.

Thanks again PVC Arsenal. That looks like exactly what I want and the price is good. Too bad Clippard's shipping is a little funny, though, I think I'll order one of their tiny regulators while I'm ordering things.

it's a good idea to use these.. air cylinders can be so strong that they become dangerous, crush fingers etc.... so it's better if they retract when presurised... esspecially becasue you are likely to get a lot of jamms in semis

one disadvantage of using them is that you need to have the gun hooked to an air source to remove jammed ammo...

I don't think we're looking to use them for safety reasons... more like using them for things a normal cylinder won't do. (like in my case, I want the cylinder to eject a shell when the gun is fired)
