Hey Spudfiles, where would I get a bike tire filler? Like you attach a bike pump to the filler and pump the air chamber up, and it maintains the air without the leaks?

My favorite location is hte pond in town, pulled out 7bikes the other week, other wise on dumpsters or in bike/ car repair shops.

Ace hardware sells them for about 2 dollars.There made of copper and have treads on the bottom and the valve on top so all you do is screw it into the air chamber.Is this what your looking for?

You can get them from bike tires, if you feel like salvaging and gluing

you can get them from automotive stores (sometimes)

you can get them from pipe fittings sections, (called Snifter valves)

you can get them in the compressor section of a hardware store

by the way, they are called schrader valves

Hmm.. I will try dumpster diving in a local bike shop for a schrader valve ( or what maverik94 said ) And if I cant find one, do they carry them at a hardware store like home depot? If anyone has a local Home Depot, please let me know

You can probably find a good shcrader valve at an automotive store; I know the Pep Boys near me carries them.

If you're looking for a really good one, it might be worth it to order off the internet: I had one that was rated to 250 psi, which promptly blew out when I took it to 260.

Try to find a brass one: some of them are rated up to 2000 psi.

you can find ones hat screw into a pipe, or cap, and have a rubber o ring on them to make a good seal, they are cheap (around five dollars) but Im not sure how much pressure they hold, but they make a perfect seal, no teflon tape or epoxy required. Just scrw it in, then put on the o ring and nut, and PRESTO, you have your schrader valve in place. You should be able to find it at most auto parts stores, but I dont think Auto Zone has it.

At my ace hardware they sell them for about 3 dollars they are the screw in ones they come in 1/4 and 1/8 sizes.

You're speaking about a schrader valve. Try to make your posts make sense. I was having difficulty seeing if you wanted a CO2 tire inflater, a valve, a bike pump, a rubber part from a tire tube..

Try salvaging them from car tires (parking lots are ideal sources), bicycle tires, car auto shops, rural stores, hardware stores etc. When I built water rockets I just went into a local tire shop and asked to buy some valves. He gave me a whole handful of new ones for free.
