High Pressure Pilot component(?)...

I Had an idea today that I haven't seen done for a high (or low) pressure pilot that would possibly work faster than a QEV...

I was thinking of using a co2 bike filler top for a high pressure pilot for a piston valve or a slimmed down pressure washer handle.
Or hard to come by bulky qev that can handle that pressure(?)...

It would be for unregged co2 or even higher pressure air, helium, nitrogen
etc. and a piston valve design

I was remembering my old crosman 357, and that one time I took out the break open screw and removed the whole barrel assembly, and fired it a few times. (it gave a nice co2 vapor mist).
It has a nice trigger and hammer for single or double action too.

My idea...To use a dummy 12 gram co2, with a short hose running from behind the piston into it.
The co2 bb or pellet pistol would be mounted sort of permanently and used as the handle and trigger.

I am wondering about adding a brass tube where the barrel normally is and pipe it right into between the barrel and piston, (?) IF (?)that would work, the hefty (and very quick) blast of gas/air would not be wasted at all.

The thought of firing a normally puny air pistol (but nice feel to it) and hearing a nice KAPOP! with that kind of power seems pretty awesome to imagine! :D

Just wondered why I haven't seen this and for any thoughts or info on this Thanks in advance. :wink: 8)

Well,...I use a hammer valve to pilot the piston on the co-ax.

Most hammer valves close after a very short time so that gas is not wasted. (Like in your 357.)

To vent the pilot of a piston valve, the hammer valve works as a dump valve, staying open.

Venting the pilot into a "soon to be" high pressure area and keeping the valve open, could lead to problems with re-pressurization of the pilot volume and possibly piston bounce issues.

In my opinion, it would be best to simply vent off this small portion of gas, and not worry about it. :)

I knew you had a hammer valve design but I didn't know it was a hammer valved pilot. Awesome!

It took me a minute to figure out why dumping the vent into the barrel would cause problems. Now I get it.

Course I am daydreaming about using the exhaust to burst a large burst disc, by threading a schrader into the barrel of the air -gun pilot.

Like an over under design!

BTW, I saw a crosman c-11 airsoft co2 pistol for 44$ yesterday. But IDK about it's trigger pull, something used might be better IMO.

I was waiting for more replies, But these faggots on here don't know a good thing if it falls on their stupid little heads!!!

EDIT: I forgot, I wish someone would tell crosman that their ar-15 Air -soft looks rediculous since there is no bolt spring on it !!!

I think I suggested this 5 years ago.Not sure though.I might just have pondered the subject and forgot about it.
My idea was to use a co2 crosman pistol, take off the barrel, saw off the part where the CO2 bulb goes,
tap the assembly behind that to 1/4" and use it as a ready made short burst high pressure pilot valve.
Same idea, less hassle.
Only, back then I did not have the 1/4" tap....

And I never had the right kind of CO2 pistol around to test it.
It needs to be configured over-under style.

Now I know how to mod a QEV for multiple shots, I'd be tempted to try this method to make a repeating marble musket at 60 bar..

I am practically never sick but I seem to have the flu, and when I dragged myself out to get online(cold sweats, fever, cough, headache) and check back I was a little disappointed.
Course it had nothing to do with spudders who have no access to co2 pistols (which is understandable).
Maybe I was letting THIS get to me at the same time too!
I sure hope that philosophical debate there doesn't carry over to this site,Since I don't take it too personal myself.

Well it's worth checking into since a nice trigger, hammer and handle (weighing a little over a pound) could be had at a price comparable to a QEV alone!

Years ago I owned a pump action co2 I would press the trigger and hand release the cocker on it and BLAM! It gave a much bigger co2 blast but one time it broke the loading sleeve, and I hammered it back on.

Thanks for the reply, but I think the 3000 psi air source could be worth a try, for certain air-guns (perhaps the crosman 357) I don't think it would be too bad if it fails....With liquid co2 it's all in the expansion, whereas with 3000 psi air ...IDK maybe 1000+fps or a broken valve :roll:
