Just wanted to update my progress on sabot refinement. I went out last night to do some night shooting and tried some new sabots, and they basically sucked. I will now make a simple mold out of some plastic pipe and glue a golf ball to it and pour in some strong arts and crafts molding clay stuff I picked up for 6 bucks. It should be strong and rigid during combustion so the golf ball ought to be released while going straight hopefully.
I can cushion the blow by just stuffing some paper towel behind it so the shock isn't so violent on the casting. I'll update later. This should be good.

Modeling clay? How much will it weigh. Might want to plug the new launched mass into HGDT to see if something else would be lighter.-

Yes, it is a concrete nail. It is more than capable of penetrating 1/4in steel. The arrow doesnt go through it, it is held in place inside the barrel by it

if you're shooting gb's at targets within 100yds, just take an old sock, drope the ball into it, ziptie tightly behind the ball and then cut off the excess sock, the fly straight, but the texture causes them to scrub speed quickly after 120 or so yds, but at 100 yds they punch through 7/8" plywood...

The foam sabots for the nail don't fly out of the barrel before the nail, leaving behind? The foam is so light compared to the nail I would be afraid of them just slipping off the nail and fly out out super fast while the heavy nail lags behind unguided. So the foam must have a really tight grip on the nail then right? If it works I will totally do that.
