i was at the hardware store returing a rented machine and as always i payed a vist to the plumbing section. i was looking at their secton of sdr pipe for a 1 1/2in sdr 21 barrel. the largest sdr 21 they had was 1 1/4 so i bought a section of 1 1/2 sdr 26. the golfballs fit pretty good but not quite as good as sdr 21. it is slightly thinner than a sdr 21 barrel so i was wondering if it would be safe. it is rated to only 160psi...

it would be used on a triggered burst disk cannon at 120psi

On a air cannon, I use a thinwall 160 PSI thinwall 2.5 inch to toss tennis balls with the :!: Dare I say it.. :!: Marshmallow Cannon.. at 100 PSI.

Sorry had to do it.

On the big launcher the 2 inch QDV T shirt cannon, full soda cans are launched at up to 80 PSI with no issues from the 7 foot barrel. I haven't tested it in the golfball size, but I have had no problems with it in the tennis ball size.

You will be fine if its not being stressed. Pipes have some decent safety margins them. I would still recommend sleeving it in a thicker pipe. For sdr 21 I'm pretty sure they use sch 80 2 inch pipe. But it's been a while since I looked but since only the inside id changes on pipe if it fits sdr 21 it will fit sdr 26.

I hope you have enough imput now. :D

SDR 26 will work fine albeit with a slightly looser golfball fit...just sleeve it in sched 80 2" and you'll be good to go.

i know it will be fine sleved in sch 80 but i want to know it is ok UNSLEEVED. from what i have heard so far it will be ok. i paid 5 bucks for this barrel so i am ok with a slightly looser fit.

depending on the power of your cannon, you may be better off holding out for sdr21, find my post about having to resleeve DD1 because the fully sleeved sdr26 started cracking apart inside the sch80 outer....
