Get your mind out of the gutter JSR...
These are a precursor to some 1.25" Blowdarts I'm going to be making..
They are for a 1.25" bore launcher(These would be great for Velocity3x's new gun)...
They start with 3.5" of .75"sch120 pvc, tapped to .75"x10 threads, add a coupler(to make it fit 1.25" ), and a 1.25"x3/4" socket cap screw(the blowdarts will use 3" of 3/4" allthread rod sharpend as the head)...
Total weight=2,778gr or .3968lb or 6.349oz or 180grams or .18kg
total length=5.125" or 129mm
actual diameter= 1.3125" or 33mm
Cg=approximately 1.25" from nose =/- .0625"
Cp= way behind that...
these are mainly gonna be for DD1 w/1.25" insert(ggdt predicts 500ish fps and 1/2mi + range, and for the "caveman" gun with 1.25" barrel(ggdt predicts 355 fps and just under .5mi range.<not bad for .75" porting and shoulderfired[it lets you know its there]>)... Hope to get some damage video this weekend...
1.25" "Knocker" Missiles...

I was secretly hoping you had a pic with two of them so I could congratulate you on having a fantastic pair of knockersjeepkahn wrote: Get your mind out of the gutter JSR...
Looks good, can't wait to see the damage!

Neat.
That'll knock some holes!
You should build multiple and try to get accurate at a distance.

I've got 12 of these, and 15 more "bodies" waiting for the all thread points...
I can actually take 7/16" hex bolts(5/8"head size) and it fits in the top(these take a 5/8allen wrench) and sharpen those...
@JSR, I do have a nice pair, but she won't let me post the pics...
And did I mention we're talking well over a thousand pounds of Muzzle energy???

Jeep,
I think your design has more potential that you realize!. I've been thinking about my next cannon design but, had trouble designing a practical round to use for the guns design. I'm planning to build a clip fed semi-auto that only fires penetrators. Your round is perfect as it is quick to make, relatively inexpensive, would clip feed easily and appears to have the Cg /Cf in the right places. A carbide tip could be added for "deep drilling" operations. Well Done!

After all the effort it presumably took you to get them, why share them easily with othersjeepkahn wrote:@JSR, I do have a nice pair, but she won't let me post the pics...
Back to the knockers that are the subject of this thread, one "flaw" I see in the design is that the wider coupler "shoulder" will potentially impair penetration, it certainly adds drag during flight. Why not use a cap instead and use that as a cup sabot that detaches after the projectile leaves the muzzle?

When I originally thought of this, it was gonna be for the penetration contest, and using allthread as the point, the idea was for the allthread to shear the threads and keep going through the target while the tail stop at the surface... And if you don't cement the coupler, they DO discard after leaving the barrel(with no apparent flight instability)...
@V3x, thanx, but inexpensive is a relative term, some here can justify the $, but others can't... the grade8.8 3/4"x10 cap screws are more than a buck a piece, the sch120pvc is also pretty pricey, but the couplers are cheap... But it's definetly EASY to make(after you buy a 3/4"x10 tap that is(about $20)...

but it will have more " stopping power" so to speak.I see in the design is that the wider coupler "shoulder" will potentially impair penetration
It will transfer more energy to the target in stead of going clean through.

it's as simple as it gets, exactly as it should be... I like it
anyone has any idea what its cd value might be ? better than that of a sphere or worse ?

How did you know I would be asking for CG?
Thanks for answering my questions in advance!

Trust you to add a spike it looks like a massive JSB predator:

Nope, decimater is 1" bore, these are for DD1(w/1.25" insertbarrel), and for the "caveman rifle" and 1.25 barrel...twizi wrote:is this gonna be used in the deciminater
I shot them some this weekend and they exceed the ranges I posted with the hipress gun, a little more than .5 mile...(phenomenal for a shoulder fired rifle with a short barrel and a heavy projectile)...
Couldn't get my hands on the video camera, maybe nextweekend...
Another note, the make an awesome base platform for a " 'chute round" I'll explain more later and post pics tomorrow...
