Hey guys, I thought of making a list of a few things that Spuders and other hobbyists would find useful. The list would be of different items and how you can find or get them for free...
Feel free to add to the list:
LIST of Freebies____________________
Schrader Valves (Tire Fill Valves):

Cost: Free
Where to get them: You can go to automotive stores such as car tire repair shops. They essentially cut of the tire valves off bad tires and they throw them away or pay to get them recycled. You can go and ask if they can put some off to the side for you for a school project and you can get a ton of them.
Camera Flash Circuits:

Cost: Free
Where to get them: You can go to stores that sell and handle disposable cameras. When people take pictures with disposable cameras they bring in the camera to places like Walgreen's to get the film developed. The cameras are just simply thrown in a bucket, bin, or drawer. Simply go in and ask if you can use them in a science project for school. Now this one becomes a little more tricky since the cameras say do not open and they might feel legally obligated not to give you the cameras. You can mention that you have the popper equipment and safety proceeder's to do so however and then they might give you some.

Thats it for the list right now, as It is 2:00 AM and I should be getting some shuteye.
If you feel like you want to add something to this list, make sure its free or very very very cheap (like 70% off minimum) Make sure to list where you can get it and how, also please use the format I used.

About the camera flash circuts, I used to do this but the last few times I tried this they told me they coudnt give me them because of a recycle policy
That's a little daft - after all, that's precisely what you're looking to do with them... recycle them into something else!clemsonguy1125 wrote:...but the last few times I tried this they told me they couldn't give me them because of a recycle policy
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Thus you move into "for my son's science project" territory.Brian the brain wrote:Right....Simply go in and ask if you can use them in a science project for school.

Freebies aside, schraders can be bought cheaply in bulk from eBay, have a look.

Used neon sign transformers. They are usually free or really cheap. This is because as NST's age, they become very unreliable. There is no use fixing them because it is easier to replace them

Not all cannons have to be mobile either.
I won't go into details of specifically which company/companies do this to prevent abuse, but some manufacturers give away free samples. If you see a company making something you like but you have no idea where to get it, it never hurts to ask them about pricing. If their quote is for something like 300 units and that is the minimum, ask them about a sample for testing.
Giving away a free sample seems to be standard in some industries as far as I can tell. A customer might order thousands of units... giving away a few for a customer to test would not cost much in comparison.
