I'm having some trouble finding steel tubing with 2.5" nominal diameter to launch bottles from and also tennis balls. Does anyone have a source that isn't brand new tubing from suppliers I've goggle'd that want WAY too much $ for a damn pipe?

I mean, I've *found* it but I'm not paying that much for a pipe i can probably get from buying a lamp post or something from menards. So Iguess that's what I'm asking, does anyone know of a cheap source?

Try the construction folks. The posts supporting an old patio awning were that size. It's what I'm building my 2.5 inch from. You may find some from a demolition project of a commercial building for scrap prices.

A sign post from a sign shop may also be the right size. Be creative. Pipe is used for more than just plumbing.

Find the shop in town that puts up this type of sign. They also take down old signs.. :D You want the post from the sign on the right, or a size smaller.

They often have short pieces left from cutting longer pipe to fit a specific job.
