Wow, I realized that I haven't posted on here in forever. Talk about a complete lack of time with work and such.

I'm probably going to be buying some stock from McMaster, haven't decided on plastic or aluminum, and the idea of whistling ammunition intrigued me. I really don't have any idea on how to do this, but figured that the idea is feasible.

Anyone have any idea how to do this?

I have heard shallow holes drilled into the ball will make it whistle. I saw this bowling ball cannon and the ball whistled when he shot it, that is why I get this idea. Also, if you blow across the top of a pen tube it makes a whistling sound.

I guess if you mold the mouthpiece of a whistle into a wax slug or something it would whistle. Nice idea though.

Go buy a whistling nerf football and examine it.

I believe taping a shell casing or a similar object onto a projectile can produce a decent whistle.
I think the japanese used to tape casings to bombs that were dropped from aircraft as a psychological warfare tactic.

I believe that is due to the Venturi effect and possibly a second effect of sorts. Isn't the hole where the bullet originally was on the casing bigger than on the back of the casing?

Wasn't Nav7 going to make whistling plaster projectiles at some point? Drac, you may have seen the topic, but they rest of you guys were never really on the SpudTech forums.
