So are you allowed pens and pencils? What about a baseball bat? Those can kill someone.

My parnets felt the same way until I just built one without their knowledge and then they grew to like them. Also use the 'I may as well spend my money on drugs" arguement as well, that can help.

Haha my mom thinks i'm crazy, she just gave up trying to regulate me. My dad is a little more accepting, but afraid of propane powered guns for some reason... wait till he sees my hybrid in action..lol

yea just go gradual, show them how they work and what you do to keep them safe, and they should understand IMHO

you could threaten him by saying you'll change your hobby to embroidery or become homosexual, if all goes well he will at least buy you a bbgun, lol just kiding,
but yeah that sounds like bs, you shouldn't have told him about hybrids, and yes scissors make more effective weapons then most spud guns, I don't see any thing wrong with an air compressor, maybe you should make an ambiguous water gun that happens to have a sprinkler valve and separate barrel

My first attempt at a pneumatic was a "water gun". No one wondered why it had a .50" barrel 5' long, and no one ever connected it to that dart mysteriously embedded in the wall... [redacted] was going to be a hybrid, over 1000ci chamber, 10x air/MAPP, and 3" porting, with a 12' long barrel capable of being extended to 24'. But things have changed, a job has surfaced, and I found a new supplier. See my first posht in Sniperjosh's hybrid thread for the new configuration

If you can't have an air compressor and want high pressure, go with a shock pump. Just say that your bike pump broke and you need a good one that won't break and then go get a shock pump.

A decent shock pump won't cost more than $50, likely less depending on where you live. A bit of advice though: they are next to useless for pressurising larger chambers. A pre-compressed gas source is the answer to this, but if your dad won't let you get an air compressor, chances are he won't be willing to fill out a credit app for a nitrogen or CO2 tank.

Why not use paintball C02 tanks? They only cost a few bucks to use and open up a whole new playing area with pressure variations.

Well you can kill people with any number of household objects, so why is a cannon that would be lethal if misuesed be any problem? So long as you are not an idiot you can operate a cannon safely.
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.

Just make gradually bigger and bigger cannons and DONT make any stupid mistakes! My dad was the same way with my first one but now Im almost as big as it goes, and when I say that I mean it. If my cannon currently in production is finished it will be capable of breaking the sought after sound barrier. Yeah my dad was very skeptical when i showed him the layout but surprisingly he said if I pay for it myself that he would let me build it.

Don't you just love when they say that? Well that's different, haha. No.

Seriously though, you could do a copper pneumatic. You could use a paintball tank like a few other guys are saying though in some states you have to be a certain age. I think it's 17 here. I'm not sure about the const of regs, but I'm thinking it's around 50, I'll edit after a quick google.

EDIT: OK, looks like a good paintball reg will run closer to the 70-80 range. But that was one for HPA, which runs between 3000 and 4500 PSI. You can probably find a reg you could use for the standard 800 PSI CO2 tank cheaper.

Yea i'd definitely go with a copper, take a look at Ragnarok's HEAL cannon, that's small, but extremely powerful ;)
