Powerful and safe!

What a great combination.

I am curious about your momentum transfer experiment.

Momentum transfer is dormant for now, I am working on a slingshot design for products to be made in China. As inexpensive as the slingshots from them (www.dankung.com), but large enough for western hands, and capable of flat band attachments.

It is simply unbelievable how inexpensive the Chinese can make things out of OK quality steel. The polishing alone would costs more than their complete polished stainless steel slingshots, if you would make it in Germany. But their designs are poor at best.

I think the western world needs a great slingshot design, using 21st century rubber, and it has to be affordable. That's a challenge.

The rubber band attachment is the most solid attachment there is. Here is a video (not mine. though) that shows how to do it. The trick is that your wrap the rubber around fully stretched out, which creates a tremendous force.

I've never really replied to any of your threads, but I have to say: Damn! You have a way with sling shots. Keep up the excellent work.

How about this. You start of with say 5 thin strips of fairly thin rubber, followed by 3 strips, of the same rubber, followed by one strip that is slightly wider than the others but still less wide than the width of three of the thinner strips added together. Like that yo are tapering with thin bands without having a 50cm wide end :D

Hello,

a few months ago, Baumstamm (a fellow slingshooter from Germany) sent me a huge parcel with lots of stuff, including a beautiul wooden slingshot made out of multiplex wood. I put on the thinnest flat band on the market, Thera Band Tan, with 8 layers per side.

Last week, I got a parcel from Jaybird, a well known US shooter. He made a wonderful wooden slingshot (ergo shooter) just for my hands, and it turned out great.

I made a video about both slingshots, here:

Here is a video about a slightly enhanced version. I have included some 1200 fps slow motion scenes of various things that get bombarded!

just out of curiosity, what is the draw power with 8 layers of bands on each side of the first one? also, i thought that it was pretty cool that when you shout with it, there was a slight muzzle blast-looking puff of something

The draw power is tough, I have to pull with all my (considerable) strength. The "muzzle blast" was actually the talcum powder the manufacturer put on the bands. The force of the shot blew it of the bands.

This band set represents the fastest, strongest version I have ever shot. But it is really complicated to make (you have to cut 16 pieces and put them together), plus they do rip sooner than thicker bands.

I think I will settle for the blue or black Thera Band, not muich slower but four pieces only, and it lasts longer.
