my hovercraft

This is my hover craft. i made this about 3 or four months ago. the skirt is an inner tube for a bike and the body is make of insulation styro foam. the suppots are arrow shafts. the motor is housed in a 1'' pvc

The fan is an RC airplane motor and prop mounted backwards. the motor wired in a way that i can control it's speed. this doesnt have any way to move foward, it just hovers.

I built it for a science project because i had the stuff to do it and i didnt know what else to do. this can hover about 1/8 inch off the ground for a few minutes.

the power system is a 1300 mAh (milli amp hour, meaning it can supply 1.3 amps for 1 hour) li-poly battery

a 20 amp speed controler, meaning it can suck 20 amps out of the battery

the motor is a class 370 brushed motor from a non-flying airplane.

Excellent job. You really need another fan on top to push it along. Have you tried it on water?

very cool, I attemped to build a hovercraft a few years ago. I got both motorcycle engines and the platform done and ran out of money,(I hate money! When i am presedent Im going to abolish money, everything will be free!)Anyways very cool, you shoul mount two small thrust fans to the back, that would be cool!

no, i havent tried it on water, but it would work for usre because even it it didnt, the inner tube would keep it floating. ive only done it on cement and on the carpet in my room (works better on cement). thanks for the coments.
