Now this might seem kinda stupid but what is Linux?

Yep, if I boot into windows. Then I boot back into OSX.paaiyan wrote:But do Half-Life 2, Medal of Honor, Unreal Tourney, Age of Empires 2&3, Starcraft, or Ghost Recon work on a Mac?
Duh. And guess what? Most macs come with quiet fans and hard drives. Apart from the old G4 quicksilvers, which were obnoxiously loud, most modern macs are extremely quiet. My 24" iMac is very quiet, I can barely even hear the fan, and that only seems to turn on under heavy loads.ammosmoke wrote: For one thing, quiet has nothing to do with whether it is a pc or not!!
It only has to do with the fans and the hardrive.
No you can't. You can install OSX86, which is a hacked version of the original kernal to attempt to be the newest mac OS, but there's so many problems that you have to be a huge dork in order to get it to run right, and anytime there is a system update it might screw up your machine. Trust me. I looked into it a LOT, because I wanted to build my own PC, then install OSX, but it's NOT that simple. You need to recompile things to get the sound cards to work, ethernet to work, all sorts of little glitches. It's not easy to do. You do have to be somewhat of a dork to get it running right. If you wanted to, you could install mac os on any computer you want!
I'm not sure how you can install 'your mac' on your dell. You could install a hacked version of OSX, but it wouldn't work well. Go ahead. Try it. It would be nudered, and only 'sort of' work. That said, yes, the operating system would probably be more reliable. So, if I installed my mac on my dell, does it automatically become physically more reliable?
I have a 24" iMac. Even more stuff crammed in it, including a superdrive, camera, and a 256 meg Nvidea 7600GT. No problems. Even more, I'm in charge of a few computer labs at school, and we have about 75 iMac G5s, and about 30 intel iMacs. None of them have had problems since my school bought them. So what are you talking about?No.... For heavens sake, the compact mac g5, (the all one piece thing) had problems with overheating because it had so much stuff crammed in it!
Again you're making things up. I can buy any hard drive I want and install it into an iMac. I can also buy any compatiable core2duo, and swap those out also. Same goes for the ram. The LCD and motherboard, obviously you can't replace.Nobody is going to be able to sell you parts for those things except mac, because they all have to be so tini!
I've always said anybody who can't spell RIDICULOUS correctly probably doesn't know what they're talking about. Thank you for strengthening this hypothesis.Mac makes things "streamlined" to the point of rediculousness.
The fact that you don't know what Linux is, and you capitalize MAC like that only shows your ignorance. You really don't know what you're talking about. MAC is not the same as Mac. Maybe they won't shutup because PC users are too busy spreading ignorant bullshit, and other things they have no clue about. This thread is a perfect example. Lots of PC users saying "Dey won't use a 'MAC' cuz dey used one in 1998 and it sucked so there!"SpudMonster wrote:Want my thoughts on the whole PC versus Mac deal?

Here's another one to add to the "Good anti bad crap" list; Spybot Search and Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/
And how many positive comments about Vista have been posted in this thread?SleekZ wrote: Windows stole heaps from Apple anyway; like the basic idea for the interface....and many of Vista's best features are things that have been blatantly stolen from Apple.
Unless they're not true, at which point I will intervene. One person said you can't get this game or that game on the mac, and about 50% of the games he listed ARE available for the mac, and have been for a very, very long time. The rest are still playable on a mac, you just boot into windows to do so. Another person said that parts are impossible, which is complete crap. Even when I had a g4 based mac, I ordered harddrives, ram, fans, videocards, fan controllers, cooling accessories, all sorts of stuff that either works because it's the same exact stuff, or required a simple modification (I flashed a cheap PC radeon 9800 into a mac version. It took 10 minutes). Modern macs use PC cpus, gpus, ram, hard drives, fans, and all sorts of other stuff.integral wrote:cash68 and SleekZ, you guys are accusing everyone here that disllikes mac's of being ignorant whilst both of you have proven yourselves guilty of just that. You obviously have a biased opinion, which is fine, but slamming other people's opinions and saying that they are wrong and you are right, put nicely, is impolite. Each to his own...
