I need to use a check valve for my upcoming airsoft sniper. I am unsure whether to use a 1/2" or a 1/4". Also, I am confused about the weight. It won't be a problem for me to carry an extra 5.2lbs (1/2) or 3.2 (1/4), but what makes it weigh so much?!? I am looking at fastenal's 1/4" npt

And the their 1/2" here
http://www.fastenal.com/web/products/de ... ku=0422978
You can see that the 1/4" is only 50mm long, and the 1/2" only 67mm. So, what is making this weight?

Maybe they meant .52 and .37.........or 5.2 oz and 3.7 oz.
I am very sure those are not the real weights of the valves.

that one works up to 5000psi and is only .7lbs

According to my calculations, assuming that the 1/4" valve was about 1/2" in diameter, its density, if completely solid, would be around 500 g/cm3, or about 23 times the density of osmium.
Even if it were 1" in diameter, it would still be more than 5 times as dense as any substance that we can currently manufacture.
In other words, it is either a mistake on the site, or fastenal knows something that we don't...

I did actually come up with a design to make my own that would perform the same task before those people who posted on it said use a checkvalve. I was like...... DUH! Why didn't I think of that!?!?
My "checkvalve" topic is here...

EDIT: Oh yeah, on the topic... I realize that this was a kindof dumb question lol. But yeah, I do think it is rather strange for them to have weights that are so off.....
