Hey all you car guys out there, I was just wondering any of you happen to own a 1969 Chevy C-10 truck. Because if you do I'm wondering if you guys replaced or moved the gas tanks in the truck because of the recall of the tanks for explosions.(I'll explain later) If anyone did relocate the gas tanks to the rear of the truck please reply because i have a 69 C-10 now and I don't want to die. Thank you all so much.


Now for the explanation-- There was a recall on the 1969 chevy C-10 because of the where the gas tanks are located. the gas tanks are located underneath the driver cab and on each side(under the cab and on the passenger and driver side). So that means if you get hit on the side by some drunk ass hole or get side swiped the gas tanks will explode and you will die a horrible firery death(that sucks)

So if any of you have any advice on what to do with the gas tanks than please help me(I don't want to die yet)

Althought I don't own a 69 C-10, I have a little advice. First, do you have room under the bed? Maybe another model would have a tank that fits there, and all you would have to do would be mounting it and doing a little sheet metal work. Of course, theres the possibility of having to fabricate new brackets or supports for a tank. Otherwise, you can install a racing fuel cell either in the bed or under it, depending on if this is more of a show truck or not. On the show Trucks (on Spike) they mounted a tank under the bed, and had a little door that popped open in the middle of the bed to access the spout to fill it. That looked real nice, especially with the wood and aluminum slat bed.

If you do a google image search for C10 gas tank, the top right picture will guide you to something that may be of use to you.

Thanks I've already done alot of research myself and found some kits online to move the gas tanks but they are ranging like $500 so I'm probably gona have to get creative with a used tank.

On mine, its situated in the middle of the frame under the bed. There are two bars that look like they were custom fit and bolted across the frame, then the gas tank sits between those, and metal straps come down and around to hold it up. Maybe that can help you.

Its called a fuel cell mate. Might cost ya some ching but a mechanic who can do a decent job and place it in the back will give you better fuel efficincy n safety.

But there can also be a few problems with Fuel cells and legality,but then again the road rules/registry might have a different view on a fuel cell then in Aus.

and mount it in the bed of your truck.

bolt a fuel tank in the bed, worst comes to worst, I've seen boat fuel tanks bolted in the bed before.

if it's not legal, just kinda throw a tarp and some junk in the bed to cover it.
