this is so cool. It is a sound board where you can test different frequency. some of them really hurt a lot, so you are warned. If you have any animal such as dogs or cats, you may not want to use it.

It was kind of weird, my dog was sleeping right next to me the whole time I was playing the different sounds, and I played every single one but she didn't react to any of them.

There is a pretty good chance that generic computer speakers won't reproduce anything above about 15KHz or bellow 30Hz.

Could just be that your $8 speakers can't keep up.

I can hear 17kHz just fine. 18k+ I can kind of make something out, but I think it's just my headphones doing err...something rather than a genuine tone.

That is sooo cool. I recorded it on my cell and set it as a ring tone (so my parents couldn't hear it but i could). I used the 17kHz one. Thanks for the link Pilgor :)

if you are using the default speakers (ones that came with computer) than most likely, they are of too poor quality to project pitches that high.

I can hear up to 19kHz fine, and a bit at 20kHz. I can also hear 50Hz fine, but I don't think my speakers can output anything below that.

Using my normal gaming/music headphones:

15hz - 50hz = nothing
8000hz - 16000hz = audible
17000hz - 19000hz = nothing
20000hz - 22000hz = audible

Using a special piezo earpiece:

15hz - 22000hz audible
