Cool burner. :)

Have you tried syphon nozzles? :)

@brplatz;

Yes it's mine. 2nd version. I was tinkering with waste oil burners at the time.

If you're after thrust, stick with the pulse jet. All mine does is make a LOT of heat. (And a Ridiculous amount of noise. 8) (Although version 2 is substantially quieter than version 1))

I've though about building a turbojet engine based on the GR-1 here and using the GR-1 combustor formula.

Although it's not quite a jet engine, thats a nice little afterburning ducted-fan you got there.

If you still live with your parents, I STRONGLY URGE YOU not to try anything remotely like a jet engine, unless you have been through Chemistry and Physics, and have a strong background in knowledge of the reactions taking place and the mechanical tolerances required to make the thing not catastrophically fail and sent shrapnel everywhere, possibly killing someone.

I really would feel better about you waiting until you have your own land, plenty of money, and the technical knowledge needed to build one of these.

And for gods sakes, IF IT GLOWS RED YOU'RE HEATING IT UP TOO MUCH.

@gippeto

could you explain the way your syphon nozzle works?
i searched but couldnt really figure it out.

@larda

I am interested in making a pulse jet buti want a somewhat small one that wouldnt be to hard to make. i have access to a sweet machining lathe if that helps :D

If I used the correct spelling it would help your search eh?

SIPHON nozzles are pretty simple, at least in theory. :wink:

Air blowing through a chamber, creates a vacuum, which "siphons" the oil/diesel up to the chamber.

The high velocity air stream then breaks the oil into small droplets.(atomizing)

That is a siphon nozzle simplified.

And then the important part...The droplets hit the "burn tube" , vaporize (you can't burn liquids, only vapours), mix with the additional incoming "combustion" air, and ignite.

Getting it all to work "together" is the fun part. :wink:
