Hey, I was looking around and found that Weapons manufacturing companies stocks, unlike the Dow Jones Industrial, are actually holding, and in some cases, going up. I think the reason for this has something to do with people getting worried about the economic crisis and wanting to buy guns. Another thing stood out to me, safes were doing quite well too. I was just wondering if you guys had any input on what you think it driving this. (Not the economic crisis, thats for theopia, but the weapons manufacturers stock)

Well, The main wars that would dramatically influence the manufacturing would have been the US invasion of Iraq... They already have guns for that. It was specifically describing the civilian purchase. Please don't call me a dummy, for I am one of those such civilians that owns.
Edit- I thought of another conflict, the one involving Russia and Georgia. However, they wouldn't affect US weapons at all. They make their own.

Alright, sorry about that. I didn't mean to be such an A hole. Well... What companies are these? Colt, winchester... what?

I believe Barret and Winchester... I can't remember the others... I can try to find it again
Edit- I believe that Colt, S&W, Benelli, Glock, Browning, Remington and those are the ones that I saw that actually turned a really fair profit. Note- not all of the companies are publically traded, but those who are did well as well.

As far as I know...
Colt deals mainly with the military. Benelli has a smalll civilian market. S&W, Glock, and Remington have large civilian markets. I don't really know how this all works into it. Airsoft perhaps? Some gun manufacturers give liscence to airsoft companies. And airsoft is growing.... Perhaps this has something to do with it?

Who knows... You might be on to something however with the airsoft. I think its more of people deciding to arm themselves and use their rights.
