Hello All.

Im wondering where one could find a CHEAP Reduction gearbox that i could easily attach an 8mm Electric Motor shaft to?

My electric bike is having some serious motor overheat issues, due to the fact i dont have the motor geared down enough, so if anyone has any ideas, id appreciate them. Im tempted to switch over to Friction Drive, to add in the Reduction acheived by that Configuration.

Good to see you acted on your idea! I had forgotten all about that. I'm assuming you already searched all over Mc Master for one. (If not, check out their section on power transmission, or whatever it is.) If that's the case, then I have no clue where to get one.

I think pre-geared would be the way to go. We use pre-geared motors on my robotics team... but then again we compete in BEST, so they give us everything. :?

As opposed to FIRST, where you get a budget of ten grand and they tell you to just go crazy and buy everything. If my team competed in it, McMaster would give us such an edge.

GAH they are so expensive..... I guess its worth it though. Although i think im going to go for friction drive before i completely scrap the idea of using my CIM motor.
