Well, if you rememberd a while back (you proboably dont) I came into the possesion of a very large and High tourque motor of which i was going to use to power my bycicle. I am proud to say that I finally have Acheived my goal.......

Specs:

Top Speed: 10-15 MPH flat, 10MPH up hills, 25+ down hills
Motor: FIRST issue CIM motor
Power: 12V 12 AH Lead acid Battery
Drive: Friction Roller (to give a good tourque ratio)

^my "throttle". It accelerates slowly enough an On/off control is all you really need.^

I hope this shows it off well. I will post some videos of it in action when It gets light out.

EDIT: Video!

Pedalling is good for you!

Also, that poor drive roller looks like its having the crap ripped out of it.

Looks nice maybe put all in a little box. Where did you get the friction roller thingy.

I bought it off MCmaster. It looks dead because... well... it took a while to find out you need a generous amount of force on the roller to prevent slippage..... and a 20 minute test ride resulted in it being pretty worn out.

And remember, i still have to Pedal a little bit. It doesnt have the power to get me going from a stop without causing some serious Overheat and Battery life issues. Its really there to make pedaling much easier up hills, ect, because im lazy.

this just proves my point that necessity is not the mother of invention.
but. instead, it is Slackerism! :D

I give you two thumbs up; one for the cool idea...
and the other for all the duck tape!

The duct tape will go away with time... This is simply a prototype. I have access to Machining Facilities, so i will eventually have this all done out of Stainless.... And mounted on a Frame that allows the tension on the wheel to be varied.

I've give you a thumbs up for not knowing the difference between electrical tape and duct tape! :error:

NO!!!!
Duct tape must stay!

if you must use steel cold blue it, stainless is nickel's ugly half cousin.
better yet, use brass or copper. :D

Were you able to get a feel for your usable distance on 1 charge and ability to climb hills?

Nice job BTW.

Thats a convertible top motor, (simular). Same as the motor that drive the hydrolic pump on my wheelchair lift in my van. Where do you carry the battery?

Its under the Seat, covered in Duct tape...... not too pretty but it works

Im not sure what the motor is actually used for, Although i beleive its for Granny Carts. It is a Staple among FIRST robot builders as main drive motors.

Well, I went up and down my about 1 mile hilly street for about two hours before it slowed down to a point where it wasnt fun anymore.... thats how i judged it... lol.
