Hey ladies and gentlemen just acquired a mini lathe/mill combo real cheap and was wondering on a first project so i decided on building an integral silencer for my new barrel and i cant seem to find anything any were on the processes so could someone be so kind and shed some light on the topic.
Correct me if i am wrong but if a silencer can not be removed it is legal in USA and dont have to pay the $2oo tax right?

I think you're very wrong, you might get away with an integral silencer on an air rifle, as it it cannot be removed and placed on a firearm, but any device that reduces the sound of a firearm report by even 1 dB is a de-facto silencer, even if it only lasts one shot, and is therefore subject to NFA licensing.

I think Jack is right, I believe integral air rifle silencers are allowed to get past the radar (Indeed, air rifles with such things are sold in the US), but anything on a firearm needs a licence.

However, I'm not American, and I can't confirm that.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Take the trouble to read through this page, I think you'll find it's worth the licensing process.

thanks for the page jack im not planning on going the illegal route because i dont want to see my arse hole the size of a wine bottle so therefore i would get permission and all the forms from the ATF then proceed with the project but i just wanted to know if anyone had either done this or had a late night thought that they wrote on a sticky note.

according the atf even if a silencer is made into a barrel, if it can be cut from that barrel and made to fit onto another firearm it is considered illegal. you must have a permit for it. a simple search would tell you the same info.
