After entering this forum I was certain most people here where some where on the thin line between being a genius and a mad man(I would take that as a compliment!). After reading through alot of posts i came across another forum, this one being about explosives. I found this thread and i am positively scared, with some of those members i am afraid they crossed the line i was talking about:

wow, thats deadly but here at spudfiles we have rules and regulations to stop things like that happening

quoted from the rules
#

# Discussion of shooting anything at any person and/or animal is prohibited, and may result in a permanent banning of your account.

1. The exception to this rule is for proper use of legal airsoft and/or paintball markers.

# Discussion of solid propellants, explosive devices or incendiary projectiles fired specifically from a spud cannon is prohibited, and may result in a permanent banning of your account. For the purpose of this forum, these definitions will be used:

1. Solid propellant: Any substance containing all the chemical elements required to enable sustained combustion without the presence of additional oxidizers. This includes but is not limited to gunpowder, thermite, and many commercial and/or homemade pyrotechnic compounds.
1. For this purpose, nitroglycerine, though liquid, would qualify.
2. For this purpose, ordinary flour, though solid, would not qualify.
2. Explosive device: Any device that has the capability to release large amounts of stored energy rapidly.
1. Discussion of fireworks as projectiles is prohibited.
2. Discussion of "soda bottle bombs" or any other similar devices that may cause shrapnel as a result of uncontrolled rupture is prohibited.
3. Incendiary projectile: Any projectile that is capable of producing flame.
1. Rocket propelled projectiles, pyrotechnic smoke bombs, or any other burning projectiles would qualify as an incendiary projectile.

# Discussion of illegal activities will not be tolerated.

1. Do not request "warez", illegal media (movies, MP3), or any other software that violates or intentionally enables violation of copyright laws.
2. If you've been involved with illegal activities (theft, vandalism, drug use, etc), keep it to yourself.
so, play safe and stay safe!

Thank god we do, i hope these guys know what they are doing, or that they will stop people like that from killing them selves.

If nbk2000 were still over at RogueSci, that guy would be banned, very swiftly.

Excuse my moronic question but: Who was he?

Just god, that's all.

He was a moderator there who got arrested.

Basically, any post with a judged IQ below 100 got the user banned.

Ah... that site is known to most senior members on Spudfiles. I had forgotten about it for awhile, but some of us Mods would always joke that this forum was lucky we weren't like RogueSci and what not.

They're known to ban members for as little as not searching, asking for help, bad spelling, having an attitude, talking crap, and having only basic knowledge of explosives and chemistry.

Oiif, guys like that freak me out. Not necassarily coming up with explosive pellets (any idiot could think of that), but guys who have their reasons of wanting to do so for harm. Anyone who actually posts about stuff like that has to be messed up.

If your accepted to join over there, don't forget to use upper case I's when referring to one's self. What you don't realize is most of the members there are chemist of some kind or another. There's a perfectly good reason they are hard on members as they are. Like it says in the orientation page a misspelled word could mean life or death. That's no joke!

But who really does that kind of stuff. I mean what they are missing is something like: "Hey osama how are you doing, where are you hanging out again?". Are they mad, terrorists or military officers? Of coarse explosives are cool but that is just mad, ignoring the fact about this being illigal, what use does it have?

You do realise people might think of us the same way.
Who needs spudguns? What kind of a freak needs this?

Leave it be, it's a different forum, different people.

Just live by our rules and everybody should be fine

I am not comparing in any way, I just cannot see what use that forum has, it as to have one after all. Some of those explosives made there require serious amounts of money, and i doubt THOSE members just want to blow things up. I was just wondering if any one knows what exactly the members there do. Are they mad, terrorists or military officers?

There are some, myself included, that find that type of hobby interesting.

Just leave it be. Most of use are decent people and just like tinkering, which is another reason why I like spudguns.

Ok i was just being curious, I was unsure of the practical sense of it, and it seems like a very original forum...I used to play around with explosives until that little incident with Armstrongs mixture...That is the main reason i have switched to pneumatic power seems a little safer.

ahh but you could argue that he was only trying to prevent 'natural selection' by keeping the fools away from dangerous things

or you could argue the he was a fool because if someone is wanting to make something go boom... they are likely to try it with or without the proper info... so it would have been better to educate the n00bs properly...

or you could argue that he was just an idiot who went power crazy and should be locked up in a mental asylum :D

anyway, i'm glad you're not overly harsh MrCrowley, if we're lucky, we can go OFFTOPIC!!! sometimes :D
