So Im an aspiring tattoo artist and finally got my new guns and inks. I was wondering if you guys had any idea's on what I could do on my leg. I was leaning more towards a skull or pin-up girl. Any ideas are welcome.

Practice a lot on something before doing yourself. Mistakes are hard to erase and you only get one fresh sheet to use. :D

In practice, I'm sure you will find something that suits you. Take you time.

Potato!

This is kinda funny, my mom just got back from L.A., California yesterday, and while she was out there she got a tattoo at L.A. Ink (High Voltage Hollywood)...

Got a link towards any of your art? A skull and pinup girl is on just about any badass dudes shoulder. Think outside the box man. How about a pinup girl holding or kissing a skull.

Not sure if this is the right forum for this talk, we are in general a bunch of either tech savey nerds or crazy rednecks.

I'm a fan of "cheese" tattoos, where the design is set behind tears in the skin.

I designed the one I have on on my right forearm of a wolf's eye looking through holes in my skin where stitches have failed.

Itdoes help to make a bunch of drawings beforehand and decide which one you like the best, because it is permanent.

Sorry Twitch, I'm not much of a tat fan on the whole....not because I'm an old fuddy duddy, but because I'm constantly amazed at the asinine things people choose to permanently stamp on themselves. I am of the opinion tats should be pretty darned special and meaningful to someone....and not for the sheer sake of the art of it....because...you will eventually tire of it, and you won't have nice taut skin on which to show it off forever... ...again my opinion only, please don't hold it against me.

Do you hope to hold down a professional job at any time in your life? If so, I would say go for something under your clothes. A lifetime is usually a pretty long time in the small, day-at-a-time scheme of things. I guarantee you your ideas about it will change as you age....so choose extremely wisely. Also, I recommend you not perform your own tats.

Pity, you could have got yourself a free suppressor;)

starman, you're beginning to show your age :P :D but wise words indeed and I agree with you, that's why I go for piercings over tats.

I know, I know....it just comes bubbling up reflexively after a while....However, I'm not at the "old fart" level yet....

I'm gonna have to go with starman on this one. There's a guy who works at a diner with my cousin who has ink all over his body. The days he wears t shirts he gets tipped significantly less. So if your ever going to want a professional job outside of tattoo artist then I wouldn't get it. But to each his own.

Well apart from my own ideas on running my own business I dont intend to have a professional job no. And tattoos are important to me. Some of you Australians should know how I feel about any establishment that bases people around rank and social status  .

And yeah I do intend to become a professional tattoo artist and Ill end up having to tattoo myself regardless so I'm getting in early :D.

And Starman nothing but respect for you guys and your opinions. I see where yous are all coming from on the job level but with my life I want to make it the biggest F*** You to society as possible and still be my own business owner. Some of you guys can understand that Im sure :P
