Tactical slingshot

First off, why have I called this a tactical slingshot?
1) It's got a laser
2) I painted the handle black
3) I'm feeling especially full of sh*t Today

This was based on Joerg's steel slingshot how to, as you will notice though I didn't have any steel box so I used some dog ends of aluminium bar. There's also a wrist brace as it's legal here, and a laser as it looked cool, not sure how useful it will prove to be. The rubber attachment point is also forward of the handle for some extra power
Again thanks to Joerg for the info on rubber and attachment techniques, I'm using green thera tube and pulling back to 430%. So far I've only shot some dodgy berries I found growing on a bush in the garden but I'm thinking about making some lead balls soon.

Looks good! is that a belt that you made the wrist strap out of?
The red dot must help alot with the aiming.

The berries do make quite a satisfying splatter pattern, I haven't been able to launch at full draw though or they're turned to mush in the pouch.

Yep, I actualy trashed two belts to make this, the pouch is made from a leather belt. That's what happens when you get a free belt everytime you buy a pair of trousers (pants?), you end up drowning in the things eventually.

The laser doesn't do Jack.

It is totaly unrelated to the movement of the sling....

Maybe there is some way of actually linking the dot to the position of the pouch, relative to the handle....

Than it would at least have some function.

Anyway..it's a cool accesoiry....maybe even cooler cause it's nonsense.. :D

Well made by the way!

......The red dot must help alot with the aiming.
It won't help hardly any IMO.

The aim point of slingshot is dependent on the horizontal AND vertical position of bands at release,
so a laser pointing where the handle is aimed will at best only provide basic info... :(

However, if a pendulum (gravity controlled wieght with string) was attached to the laser, it would improve the aimpoint possibilities.
(But not the horizontal left to right) position of the band will still not be effected. 8)

edit: srry BTB, my computer is very slow lately, and we replied about same time...although we stated about similar...

My message was just shorter... :D

I think you're both right, but it's tactical. I might stick a bipod and a supressor on as well :D
The only commercial slingshot I've seen with a laser had it and the fork swivel mounted on the handle, which might help. That's not really an option here though with the fork forward of the handle, could get messy.

Lol how in the world would you build a suppresor for a slingshot.. not like it makes to much of a noise when it shoots.. I dont think that would be possible.

Very cool build :P I like the handle and the small wrist strap you built for it :o

Very nice! :)
I think one could aim pretty well with the laser, just be consistent with your anchor point.
Why didn't you put the fork-loops parallel to your arm? (I think the original design had it that way)
Again, nice build, and holy Maria it's tactical alright! :)

fine then.....The red dot must help no amount at all with the aiming. :D

It needs a silencer, flashlight, red dot sight, 30rd mag, riot shield, integrated grenade launcher and an attached shotgun for door breaching. You can't call it tactical without those things.

Though seriously, very nice work. Do the eyes tend to damage the rubber in any way? I'm thinking of grinding off the two bars on the one I made and welding eyes on there.

Well, it might help, as copperboy said, if I have a consistent anchor the laser will be useful but it won't turn a sligshot novice like myself into a marksmen overnight.
Why didn't you put the fork-loops parallel to your arm? (I think the original design had it that way)
A good question, it was indeed like that in Joerg's video, however in some of his other slingshot's the eyelets were perpendicular to the arm so I did it like this. This way there is no twist in the parallel bands as you pull back but it's trickier to get the bands sitting in the right place on the eyelet, so I might turn them back around.

If you are going tactical in a country that allows bracing, why not extend the horizontal to a shoulder rest?

Your wrist would just position the front and not be subject to any torque.

Well i got this slingshot http://www.slingshotsusa.com/product_in ... ts_id=1232 and because the laser stays true to where the bands are pulled to you can aim very well.

So far so good, bands holding up nicely although I haven't shot it much yet. the eyes seem like quite a good solution although I might replace mine with stainless ones so I can grind/polish them to a really smooth finish and not worry about corrosion.

hmm, not sure if this is serious or not, but it's already a bit on the large size for a slingshot

The only further addition I am interested in is some kind of auto ammo dispenser/magazine to speed up shooting. For this to be worthwhile I would also need some way of stopping the band and holding it in a useful place
