How many of you have done this at school? I did the paper plane distance. I'm actually on the bus home now... I got first place. The prize was $60.

In all our school did really good. We got first in four catagories. Plane distance, robotic arm, rubber band car, and electric motor.

Here's the plane I used...
Image
I got right around 105 feet. Blew everyone away. Mine actually went out the back side of the throwing range and disrupted the event behind it...

So have any of you done this?

That's really cool. Do you remember how far it went back then?

That's impressive for elementary! My best back then was probably 50ft.

If I worked on it longer then I could probably get 150 but I made this in less than 10 minutes...

We didn't do paper plane distance, we did the egg drop.

My teacher said we could use 750 toothpicks and glue... I made a sheet of solidified glue, ground the toothpicks up, and surrounded the egg by sawdust. :D

Sadly, it didn't work...

THats cool. I ripped apart a frog once. I did make paper airplanes, but it was my own activity during such classes like english, math etc.

I once ripped apart a frog but it was technically disecting and it was in science class... No video only cuz I don't have a camera... I couldpost a series of pics though... Not enough time now. I always throw paper airplanes in class... Once I threw a plane, it went around the entire edges of the room (even 6" from the teachers head  she didn't see cuz she had her head down...) and I caught it again. Everyone in the class was watching and we all went "holy crap!!!" at the same time. The teacher asked what happened and everyone was silent...

Hahahaha.... ummm... in my math classes in high school, i sat next to a huge arse bucket of k-nex.

So, needless to day i built a knex pistol.... and shot my friend from across the classroom.

I also took a 3/4'' spinklervalve gun into class to show my physics teacher.... and punched a hole in a locker with it... he just smiled, laughed
and told me a had a pretty cool linear accelerator...as a gun would have gotten me expelled..... haha I loved my physics teacher. 8)

heh I wish all teachers were like him... though I had a science teacher in my middle school who was different than all those science teachers here (in case you don't know it... science here in Europe is all about boring equations, not real life examples and experiments) who really knew how to teach this stuff in an interesting way... I am sure he would be more than impressed if I showed him some of my creations... I wonder if he's still alive (yeah I am 24 yrs old.. damn ppl... seize the day!!)

Although many other classes had knex, none of mine ever did ... :( I still built guns at home...

It's so stupid how teacher get enjoyment out of getting kids in trouble...

That plane is one I learned how to make about 7 years ago... I think it was on the Internet called the origami dart.

Ah, I knew it looked familiar.

Here.

I made that plane a while ago (many years) also. I don't remember getting particularly good results with it, but I'll try again now.
