I plan on making big things once I grow older, with a job, and my own credit card, but for the time being, I'll stick with the small things, start small and work your way up, eh?So anyone got any more of those moving GIF's of those electrical airsofts? I can't seem to find anymore, even with Google Image Reverse Search

Wikipedia has one, and try searching AEG's or auto electric guns.

Bad plan, wait till you have MONEY not a credit card.

Anyways, go buy a nerf "nite finder" modify it, and replace the barrel with a bic pen tube.... and viola! Airsoft gun.

That sounds like your best, cheapest, and safest option to me.

Credit Card works better on the net, NYC don't got crap in one store, last time I tried, I had to hit 4 different stores for parts, screw that

To be honest, building an AEG from scratch isn't exactly going to be easy. I've worked on several factory made AEG's and there's a lot more going on the gearbox than it looks like. If it's going to be "ghetto" an AEG is not the design for you.

If you want an airsoft gun, why not try a BBMG? Similar performance to an AEG, though higher rate of fire, and much simpler to build. Yes, it will involve compressed air, but at generally low chamber pressures, I've even made lung powered ones.

I plan on buying a real AEG, and slowly....err......uhhh.....examine?the parts very carefully, and no, I'm not gonna make my own parts or anything, I got gears and rods at batteries and wires at home.

-Rubber band gun-Face it, although not intending to hurt anyone, nobody's afraid of rubber bands, its not cost effective either, unless I intend to pick it off of the floor every time, put it on the weapon, cock it, and fire it, besides, if I'm working with rubber bands and one snaps.....I think its gonna be airguns all over again..

So, anyone got any ideas for me? I really need a hobby, summer's coming up!!!
Seriously?

If a snapping rubber band is going to scare you off of something, then you're best to collect stuffed toys or play with dolls for a hobby. (please don't put the small parts in your mouth)

Some people are just "special"... sounds like you might be one of them.

And with that, my day is made.

Natjatee, a blowgun would be extremely easy to make. It's a length of pipe that you blow into. The dart can be a nail with a paper cone on the back end the same diameter as the pipe. It's simple to make, and provides plenty of fun. Just don't put the small darts...in your mouth...as I agree with Gippeto.

Depends on what you use for darts..

Nah, I'm gonna try making an AEG, and I do have rubber bands in my mouth, its called having braces and when it snaps, it hurts like a female dog

If you've already snapped a band on your braces there's another problem...

I think Gippeto has made a very good point. I'd heed his advice.

You guys don't have to be douches about it.

Pain is temporary, the lessons it teaches are not. Be smart. Don't screw with things that you're not confident about. :D

An AEG will be quite a difficult project, I'll just reiterate what others have said and suggest Nerf modding.

It's fairly safe, still challenging enough, reasonably cheap and the requisite parts are very easy to find.

Not to mention quite a bit of power can be got from them.

(I don't nerf mod, so you've no need to flame me)
