Depends on what resolution (0.007" or 0.010") and density you pick (solid, high density, low density) because the more you spit plastic, the more it's expensive and long. Low density is like an internal mesh, that saves some material (and is quite sturdy as well). You can even use the "fiber" orientation of the plastic layers to make springy pieces. Quite impressive.

For this card holder, 0.007" high resolution and low density, it took about 13 hours to print.

my brothers, wifes, uncles, son bought a injection moulding machine second hand for 5grand, his not a very smart person though got a quote for a die that had 12 fishing lures machined into it, $9000.

It's easy to write 3d printers off as a fad of the hacker culture. But even considering the weakness of the final parts compared to extruded ones, my god they come in handy for pretty well everything Love my UP! printer to death.

You can see the prices on the manufacturer's website, not cheap - there are a lot cheaper printers out there, but the difference in both resolution and material quality is extremely high, you gets what you pay for.

Actually FDM, it melts the plastic then deposits it in layers.

You could if wanted to invest in EDM or WEDM equipment.
