Ok so here in the usa we started a petition to try and reopen the machine gun registry so we can get modern machine guns at cheap prices. Please help us out and sign this petition , even if you arent in the usa please take your time to sign it. Thanks!

Anyone signing this is going to have to be from the USA because it is a legal document in the USA.

As much as I don't agree with certain policies and ideologies regarding the sale, trade and availability of certain firearms in the U.S., I don't want a flamewar started in this topic about why guns might be bad or why every U.S. citizen might have the right to own any gun he pleases.

Feel free to comment about this petition but if you notice your post is missing, I've probably deleted it to help prevent this thread being derailed.

I disagree with the legality of owning full auto weapons here in the US. Anyone old enough to remember the LA. bank robbery and the shoot out that followed?

We don't need full auto weapons to protect ourselves.

well I don't intend to turn this thread into something it shouldn't be but you americans shouldn't complain - I wish I could legally buy a firearm - even a wimpy .22 cal bolt action let alone semi auto pistols or rifles

Machine guns are legal you just need a license to get them, in Massacusetts anyways. All I have to say is second ammendment. If all that its for is cheaper prices whats the big deal?? Besides if you really want something weather it be a gun, drugs or a blow up doll you can get it in the U.SA. if you got the loot! Signed, sealed, and delivered!

Uh, no, an online petition is not a "legal document in the USA". A person from anywhere can sign it with any name they choose.

The value of an online petition is pretty much described by the preceding sentence.

Although I believe there is currently no real reason for private citizens to own full-auto firearms (three-round-burst was adopted for a reason;)), remember that as a u.s. citizen, you also have the right to establish your own militia. I.E, you can build an army, so you should at least be able to outfit them how you see fit. I would draw the line at nuclear weapons, but you wanna buy a rocket launcher or an APC with a minigun on it? I don't have any problem with that... and as of now, you still can.

Judging by the CCW laws being loosened more every year, gun control in general may trend the same way, regardless of what your local NRA nutjobs may think.
Other than that I agree with jimmy's statement about the usefulness of doing this stuff online.

If it is filed/registered correctly it most certainly is a legal document. Is there a disclaimer attached to it stating where and what entity or person filed it? There will be a file number attached as well or it don't mean beans.

It may be the case where you need a certain signature count in order to file it to make it legal.

There was a law enacted that prohibited machine gun manufactures from selling to private citizens. The machine guns available today were all built before the law was passed or sent though some bizarre series of loopholes, and are exempt from it. I think the only way you can get a modern MG is to get a conversion kit (expensive), or become a licensed gunsmith(also expensive). I know there's also a destructive device stamp that allows you to build your own items of dubious legality, but I'm not sure if it applies here.

My dad has had his gunsmith license since 1962, as far as I knew you didnt need to be a dealer to have a seperate.licence for fully automatic weapons but I will find out. While other kids in the neighborhood was playing ball on the weekends I was shooting up bails of hay at the sandpits with a uzi when I was 12!!!

I mean you could always build a machine gun. The concept.is really simple

The 2nd Amendment wasn't written with muggers in mind.




edit: Oh, and the cops would have made quick work of the bank robbers you mention if they'd have had any kind of long range weapons. All they had were handguns and shotguns. Even a plain ol' bolt action .308 would have ended that situation very quickly.
