Treaded Go-Kart

Does anybody know if a Go-Kart with tank treads would be plausible? I want to build a Go-Kart but want to stray from the norm slightly.

hum...
i wont even ask about steering just yet, but i will offer an idea
get pulley wheels made for serpentine belts, and get serpentine belts for the treads, maybe glue rubber pieces on it for traction
or, maybe grocery store conveyor belts, snowmobile treads... special chains...

Well you would steer it like a normal tank, somehow make one tread spin faster, I'm gonna see if any people are getting rid of their kid's electric power-wheels for two seperate motors.
Do you think duct tape covered in a few rubber intertubes would work for a tread?
I want something that can be droven on roads and possibly dirt.

heres another idea
get tires, cut them into strips, stitch them with metal wire, and use normal 2 piece wheel hubs

That sounds like a good idea, I think I saw a tire dump near my house. Am I allowed to just take tires off a tire dump?
I'll make sure to wear mosquito repellant if I go near them, can't be too careful with mosquitoes and stagnant water.

make sure you put a turrent on it if your going to go through all the trouble of making tanks treads you definately need a turrent

If you make a half track you would get rid of a few steering issues.Driving around in a miny tank would be kick ass! You could most likely find someone on the net that has done this.Do you have parts for it yet?

Well all I have so far is a friend who is gonna help, some spare wood, and a few designs. Me and my friend already discussed a turret in the back, we can't decide between a big watergun, a slingshot, or a spudgun (pneumatic, don't want fire around the wooden frame.) ANy ideas on a turret?
For the tracks I was thinking of plates made out of plywood strung together with some kind of belt. I wanna try to floor it then turn one track off and see if I spin in a circle/slide.

You won't go too fast but tanks don't really need to. There is a guy who made a tank for his kid that had a little cannon to shoot styrofoam pellets with pennies on both ends.

I'm only expecting 20mph AT THE MOST. I figured it would just be fun to show off and plus I should be able to go off road and up hills. I also want to add driver position controls for the turret in case there isn't anybody in the back. For the treads I could also use that board with all the holes in it, it's more flexible and it's lighter, and it should be easier to work with.

i got a totally wicked idea for treads
you need a few sprockets for the "wheels"
the treads will be woodent boards with hinges, and holes in them to accomdate the sprockets, then you may add stuff to the bottom
this will give you more of a tank look
btw, the sprockets should have a HUGE pitch, you can also line the inside of the tread with rubber, and use normal wheels.
or maybe normal wheels without anything on the treads
plate the treads bottom with metal

I was gonna use that board with all the holes in it, that would elimate the need to drill holes in all of them. It's gonna be hard for me to find sprockets, I might have to line the inside with an intertube and use regular wheels.

lol, donýt do it. a kart doesn't have got a dif. do it will be very difficult to stear. with a normal kart its posible because the tires doesn't have a lot of grip, but when you make it wit tracks they will have got a lot more grip so it will be very hard.
