I wanted to show off my homemade nerf gun. It isn't no where as good as boltsniper's guns but it gets the job done. Also if you think nerf is childish you have to remember that we mod the hell out of these things. Especially the darts. Suction cup darts don't hurt. But stefans do. We call them stefans because the creator of these darts was named Stefan Moore. The darts are made of foam backer rod and can be found at most hardware store. You generally put 3/0 size lead fishing weights or 2-3 bb's in the head of these darts. Then you cover it in a dome of hot-glue and voila! You made a stefan dart! If you don't think these things hurt then think again. They can leave very large welts and bruises. I do know they hurt more than an airsoft bb. I haven't played paintball so I don't know if they equal up to it. Nerf is my biggest and favoritist hobby. I modify my guns a lot. I make homemade guns and darts a lot also.


Now, onto my gun.
It is called the FHG (first homemade gun)

I have built a spring pistol completely out of scratch. It has a 1" diameter plunger tube. I used a peice of an arrow from a real bow and arrow as the plunger shaft. At the head of the plunger shaft, there is a paice of half inch cpvc. Then, I wrapped some masking tape until the oring that I got fit around it and made an almost perfect seal. Here is a pic.

The gun uses Carbon's trigger since it was the only parts I had lying around. I say the gun turned out well. I realized that if I actually spend time on some of my projects they turn out better. Here is some pics.

I got some bushings to make it cleaner looking. Here is the black paintjob I did to it. Nothing to fancy, just plain black.

I do believe that the plunger rod is carbon fiber. Yes it is extremely light. It made a perfect sized barrel for airsoft bb's but since it was the only rod looking thing I had laying around, I decided to use it. The only problem with it is that you can't drill holes in it. It will crack and break. So I put hotglue on it for a kind of grip so I can pull it back easier.

I did range tests on the barrel you see in the pictures. And another range test on a longer barrel.

Original Barrel:
72.7 ft.
75.8 ft.
72.6 ft.

Longer Barrel:
79.0 ft.
82.4 ft.
77.11 ft.

Remember, these ranges were shot at a flat angle. They could easily get 10 or even 20 ft. more if angled at a 45 degree angle.

My mind is having difficulty imagining this things power. Mabey you could make a video for us. Tell me why you have used so many springs on the plunger,why can't you just use one spring?Looks very simple to make.Did you just use hot glue to stick the handle on because hot glue isn't very strong.

I swear to you that I will make a video as soon as I can upload videos. For some reason my computer won't let me. I used 3 springs because I didn't have a long enough spring for the 1 foot. plunger tube. The handle is held on by epoxy and the I put some hot-glue on it just for the fun of it. If you don't believe this things power I honestly don't care. I know it's power and I don't care if other people think it's bull s***. If you want some proof that nerf guns can go that far I suggest you look at this.

If you don't know what a nite finder is it is that black and white pistol on my pic shown next to my FHG for sixe comparison.
Here is another vdeo of a titan shooting through cardboard.

Notice how they are shooting 1" stefans. Most stefans are 1/2'. Meaning they will get more range. My titan is modified to shoot 1/2' stefans. It can easily get 160 Ft. I suggest you search on google about titan ranges if you can't believe it.

I'll never understand why people prefer nerfing over paintball/airsoft/laser etc.
Decent gun, though. Do you think it's more powerful than a simple pneumatic at low pressure? Say 50 PSI?! I'm asking because I've been fiddling with the idea of a spring-powered 10mm caliber. It would have better ROF, but would it be more powerful than the alternative?

How big would the plunger tube be? Also what kind of projectile will you be using. I wouldn't know if it will be more powerfuller. Air powered nerf guns are extremely powerful. An at2k (air tech 2000) can get ranges of 80-100 ft. flat. Depending on how you mod it. I wish another nerfer was a member here. Then you will all know the true power little plastic toys can have.

Titan's are known to rip darts in half and destroy the backs of them before they even leave the barrel. If you shoot it at a wall. The dart will most likely lose the head to it (the weight and glue part). I have shot many things with my titan. I usually never am able to use the darts again.

lol your evil thats all i have to say. The next generation of childrens war toys... i remember once i had this nerf gatling gun but i shot my aunt with it (i was like 7) and my parents returned it lol. But damn nerf guns were fun, get a video or a damage pic from it when you can.

Actually with a titan you can shake up a can of soda and when you shoot it it explodes, no lie! The gun you are talking about is either the Chainblazer or the Roto Track. Ring a bell?

A nerf nite finder can also be made into a neat airsoft gun with killer ranges.

It is gravity fed, the mag holds 9 bullets. I was getting ranges of around 110 ft. The only problem with this was that sometimes it shot 2 bullets at once.

Here is me in my ninja clothes and mask, I look more like a terrorist though. That is a rf20 in my hand. (Rapid Fire 20). I went to the movie store in those clothes. So fun.

That is a nerf crossfire, it has good ranges when modded. It gets around 55 ft. flat. The reason the range is so low is because the plunger tube is very tiny.

i have 2 modded mavericks, a modded lock n' load, and a secret shot that i modded to shoot airsoft, and to pump up more. it shoots clean through 2 soda cans. the titan gun that you speak of, how do you modd it and where can i buy one?

Well, the big gun has 20 barrels (hence the name rapidfire 20). It fires full auto. I can see airsoft bbs going a good 70 ft. The RF20 doesn't get good range because it's bladder is kinda small. The titan you can either buy on the internet or in walmart or toysrus. You have to buy the whole package though. It comes with the titan, the hornet (semi-auto gun that gets around 75 ft. when modded). And the scout (cool looking pistol but sucks for range. Now, the whole set costs arond 40.00. I suggest you already buy a modded one off of the NIC (nerfing internet community). It will run you around 20.00 for one. But you could mod it yourself. Here is a mod for it http://nerfhaven.com/forums/index.php?s ... =titan+mod But that is to shoot micro (1/2") stefans. Notice the 180 ft. ranges. You need a glue gun though. I was making plans to make mine c02 powered but I never got around to it. Remember, you can easily screw it up or make it deadly. Use the write-up in that link. (If you buy one off the internet, ask them to put about 50 stefans in there. You may have to pay extra but what else are you gonna use for ammo)?

sweet ninja clothes, but any way on to my question the rf20, i bought one to revese engineer and turn into a airsoft gun, which i did (the inside diameter of the darts is the same size as a bb so i taped all into the gun) but its not that powerful, did you mod yours to get more power? any idea how i could mod mine?
