Two Italian WW2 helmets found

Now I am hooked..

Yesterday I found two Italian WW2 paratrooper helmets on a slope of a local mountain. This region where I live was under Italian military occupation from 1941 until Italy capitulated in 1943. Judging by the shape, I am pretty sure they were manufactured for paratroopers.

My grandfather told me that he saw how Italian soldiers cook food in their helmets, perhaps these two I found were for the same purpose as they are deteriorated and cracked on top. I will attach two YouTube videos to this topic, in the second one you can see helmets undisturbed. I filmed them prior to touching them as I was not completely sure what the thing was.

I will come back to this location to look for more stuff, it is a 30 minute walk from my house. In the meantime tell me what you think ;) ;)

Indeed, I hope there is more stuff left on that location.

Nice find! The lack of rim does make it seem like they are paratroop helmets:

Worth doing a bit of research as to the exact units involved as to my knowledge it was mostly Alpine troops in this area or operations.
Indeed, I hope there is more stuff left on that location.
Beware UXO especially if it was an active combat zone!

I knew that these were Italian helmets after 5 minutes, but had to research later to confirm that these were designed for paratroopers.. really strange, no one ever mentioned to me that paratroopers were in this area.

I think you're lucky to live in a location with history. I'd love to do stuff like that but.... Well, there isn't really anything like that around here. Nobody lived here until WWII (and even then it wasn't a battleground).
