They're not supposed to be able to do that Trae, they say you have to buy the whole section and then they can cut it at most places...

On McMaster.com you can get a 5' section of 3", but it's almost the same price as the 10'

Sounds like you live in some big city thar.

Home Depot will cut pipe to length for me, but I always go to the feed or hardware store, and they'll sell me short lengths, but the shortest length I've ever bought was 5', just to be nice.

Just buy the 10' length and make some pop bottle barrels. 8)

Or save it for some future project. I've got over 20' of 1-1/2" SCH-40 sitting under the trailer just waiting to be used, and it's all left-overs in about 5' chunks, but I do have a continuous 10' chunk also.

The only 3" pipe I have currently is ABS. Thinwall stuff too.

At the Home Depot I use, they have a wooden box with scrap pieces anywhere from 1" long to 2 feet, they sell THAT by the inch, really cheap.

They don't just give you the scrap free? When my friend was building his POS spudgun, he had to connect a busload of 1-1/2" fittings so he just asked the guy at the store for some 1-1/2" scrap, and he gave it to him.

Usually, stores will give the the scrap free because they just wanna get rid of it instead of having to throw it away.

At my local ace hardware there is a rack where they sell various cut lengths of pipe. Basicly the leftovers from when a customer wanted their pvc cut a certain length.
