making a smoke grenade inside a good pot help..

Hey all,

Well, I'm ready to make my smoke grenades..But I'm making them as a surprise for when I play paintball with my dad..Don't worry..I've made a design so that there is no way to have a fire hazard..I might post the design later on once I've tested it, before we play obviously..

But I don't have any "trash" or bad pots..So I am wondering, would it work to protect the pot by putting aluminum foil in it?? Or would the mixture just stick to it?? Pam?? And how would I protect the pan from like getting burned or having the aluminum foil stick to the pan??

If you're using sugar/saltpeter, that burns hot enough to melt aluminium.
I've burned it inside homemade cardboard tubes, made by covering thin cardboard with wood glue and rolling it around a wooden dowel, then hammering an end plug of bentonite (kitty litter).

i'm using sugar and potassium nitrate..is that the same as salt peter??? Darn it...hmmm maybe I can use my mom's measuring glass cup thingy without her finding out...WOuld the stuff stick to it like crazy and I wouldn't be able to get it off, because I know that my stump remover is toxic to eat...

Dollar tree sells pots and pans buy one there.I use them for melting stuff(paintballs,lead,etc.)

Are you talking about like a cooking pot? You should just get like a cast iron skillet at some garage sale. Potassium nitrate is a form of saltpeter im pretty sure. You'll want to do it outside with a hose nearby on like a camp stove, cause it would be like burning blackpowder in your kitchen. As a set up for burning it my friend uses alumin(i)um cans or you could use cardboard tubes as GalFisk said.

Potassium nitrate (the exact same thing as salt peter, it's like saying sodium chloride for salt) is water soluble, as is sugar. As long as you don't let it catch on fire, then you can just let it soak in the pot and it will all dissolve away. Then your pot is fine.

go to www.pyro creations.com to get the 3/32'' shells x 3'' long use plaster of paris to seal up the bottom fill with the 4 sugar 6 potassium nitrate mix it works better if you melted in to a tube cutting up 1'' fuse segments and dropping them in to the mix -they sell that too- then cut a fuse from 3'' to 8'' it burns 3 seconds a foot. that site is www.pyrocreations.com you aslo can but the kno3 /saltpeter from ebay in up to 50lb batches.
